The only way it will stop, is if some time in the future mankind creates the perfect droid referees, programmed to not be fooled by all the play acting and devoid of emotions and won't react to the crowd cheers.

Well they have AI referees in Fifa. I'm sure one could be programmed. It could make use of all the cameras, all the goal line tech, etc... to come to instant decisions. Then you wouldn't even need anyone on the pitch. Of course that would come with its own new set of downsides.

Is Bale on the rapid decline now? He always seems injured and with speed one of his biggest assets surely that's going to take a hit with all these racking up? Bit like Owen who when lost the speed wasn't even nearly the same player.
