Following Our Nearest & Dearest Rivals, 2016/2017

They may be talented, but most of these Monaco players lack maturity and experience. They've done incredibly well to reach this far, but you need more to reach the very top level.

In Juventus, we are seeing what chelsea could be a few years down the line...of they give Conte control of transfers that is...(unlikely I know)...anyway, Juventus are top draw...hope they do Madrid in the final

Juventus team are also experienced, especially their backline. Our old guard will be gone and our defence will be a little les experienced, but with luiz, dave and christensen coming back we should be good for the future. Chiellini, bonucci are different breed though.

Bakayoko hasn't looked anything more than mere average today.

Seems to stroll around with no sense of urgency.

It's harsh on Matic, to think Bakayoko would be an upgrade, he's been overhyped.

The above is laughable enough. Nothing on the sporting side will come of it.

Here's Wenger moaning about possession.

“Over the last two seasons, teams who have not big possession have won the league,” Wenger said. “And, as well, teams who were not involved in Europe, at all, won the league. Because the league is so physically difficult, maybe it is very difficult to cope with both. We will see how Chelsea respond next season."

He goes on to say teams who don't want possession are killing the game and fans will be turned away. Still doesn't understand fans want to win no matter how. Look at United, always on their high horse about playing attacking football. Now Jose is there and they play not to concede they're all on board as long as it's successful

RE Wenger's comments about about non possession dominant teams winning the league and being out of Europe being key.

For me, the Leicester win last year was a truly amazing feat by them. A club as big as Arsenal claiming they won it because of a lack of European football is frankly embarrassing. Leicester had no right winning the league and it's a testament to how badly us, Arsenal, United, City, Liverpool  and Spurs f**ked up that a club with such modest resources beat everyone.

As for the lack of possession. I've always thought you have to work harder when you don't have the ball. You have to chase lost causes a lot, press players in possession, keep getting back into position and maintain shape. You'll then typically attack on the counter which involves several players sprinting.

That said, I think we've been far from a one trick pony. Yes we've beat some teams on the counter and been content to sit back and wait for our chances but then performances such as Boro on Monday, Everton at home we've dominated the games.

Wenger's footballing ideology is the reason for the lack of his and Arsenal's success in the last ten years. He refuses to adapt, do the nitty gritty stuff and buy functional players rather than 5' 8" pacey players.

I bet right now we out perform them in the league and Europe next season even though they'll be against weaker opponents in the Europa.

Alba is a LB, Alves is a RB

So he is. I got confused there and thought he was a rb. Who do barca use at rb? Either way getting rid of alves seems a miatake.

Sergi Roberto.

Dont follow them (general football) as closely as a couple of years before, but whenever I have seen them play, he has been starting in the RB situation. How that came to be and why they sold alves, I have not got a clue.

I'd rather have watched us this season than arsenal. Their football has been trash.

He left because of internal politics. The also have Vidal who they fell out with, leaving them very short on RBs.

So that's where the rumours about them wanting azpi have came from. Barcelona are in a rock and a hard place financially because they don't have a big transfer budget because so much money is being paid in contracts to messi and neymar, but they need them to succeed. I think when messi leaves the financial shackles will be off somewhat.

Hope we smash that arrogant SOB on the 27th

Maybe if Wenger treated football more as a sport and less as a theatre, they'd be more successful, he's stuck in his ways and the time to adapt and change was over 5 years ago. When they lost physical leaders like Viera and he didn't replace them, that was the beginning of the end for their dominance.
