on another note, i really think that the formation that got absolutely slated in pre-season, 4-2-4 whatever, should be tried again. matic, who again i think is nowhere as bad as everyone seems to make him out to be, and kante in the middle, batshuayi and costa up front.

its probably not a popular opinion, but costa really needs help up front. he got absolutely toyed with by two mediocre centre backs today. bar scoring, which is of course great, he did absolutely nothing of what you need a centre forward to do in games like these.

didn't hold the ball up so that we could move our team up the pitch. didn't run the channels. didn't win any headers. didn't aggresively chase crosses. didn't press before 55-60 minutes. sulked.

for all the service talk, costa didn't provide any target to hit. costas worst game this season i felt. can't help but think that batshuayi doing the plow job for him to run off of would have helped him and out team.

He had a poor game tonight but lets not write him off just yet. New manager in a new league its a steep learning curve.

That was more then a bit pathetic. The way we let Liverpool just run over us in the first half is very embarassing. Subs should have been made after 15 minutes, Conte clearly choose the wrong tactics for the game and he should have had the balls to do something about it early. It was clear for anyone to see. We needed someone in midfield who could dictate play, keep the ball and overall just take charge of the game. Like Cesc ovbiously.

Looks like we'll be in a dogfight for fourth again. The game against Arsenal just became super important right now.

I know - how come none of them looked around and thought "where are the red shirts?" - it was pantomime defending "he's behind you!"

I think this defeat falls squarely at Conte's door. In the 2nd half we had them on the back foot and momentum in our favour and yet Conte dallied after we scored. At the time it was blatantly apparent that Costa needed support up top as Hazard so far had failed to provide any and Willian was providing zero width. Chucking on Michy and Moses would have helped in that regard.

I have no complaints about Fabregas being on the bench. Small doses of him are more than enough.

Kante had a shocker. Was caught out of position a lot imo. What does Pedro do and why is he still here?

Depressing result.

Well this is the most disappointed I've been after a match in a long time, particularly given how good we've been so far this season. 

Not going to say much, there's very little positive to mention and I'd rather forget about the negatives. Wipe hands and move on.

Conte's given this generally unchanged side five games to gel to his system, it's looked good up until tonight but it's time to rotate a couple out and tweak the setup.

I'm confident we can turn this into a forgettable blip and be a stronger side for it. Its up to the coach and players to do so. Roll on Tuesday, lets hopefully see a big reaction.

I am disappointed but not surprised at this result. A poor Swansea team exposed our problems. Conte needs more time to work on the team,  and needs to be more active with his subs. 

Kante alone does not fix us. Our new signings are not bedded in yet, bar him. 

i dont understand why we are playing so deep. I would switch Kante with matic as he is quicker than matic and can press the ball higher up the pitch. It's beyond me why Oscar keeps playing every week instead of cesc. It's also time to give alonso a go and push Dave till right back brana was terrible tonight.

We are not a mid table team so why are we playing two defensive midfielder after signing a good defensive midfielder in Kante. Or Conte doesn't trust him?
Another thing that worries me is that it looks like Conte doesn't have a plan B. Or what else could be the reason why he likes to wait till the last minutes of matches before making substitutions. I blame Conte for the poor results in our last two matches. Oscar and Matic in your first team won't take you anywhere. And if Conte doesn't quickly find a way to get Fabregas into the starting line up, Costa and Hazard might just get fed up with his tactics and we know that won't end well.

I knew there would be a lot of negative comments but what you have to understand is Conte has handicapped his side for the past 4/5 games in a row he refuses to play his best creating midfielder and continues to play Oscar who hasn't done anything special for us, Oscar absolutely 100% needs to be dropped for Cesc Fabregas it's unacceptable to have such a talented play-maker rotting away on the bench it makes no sense.

Today kind of displayed a case of bad tactics losing us the match the first half is where we fxcked up so bad, I don't even think we had a single shot on goal and then soon as the second half came about and we played with some direction we looked the much better side I just don't get it why are we giving Liverpool so much respect in the first half?

Drop Oscar and maybe drop Ivanovic too and give that new boy a chance at fullback.

The worst thing is this is an average Liverpool team that more or less bossed things the whole evening. Even when they weren't attacking, it was very comfortable for them minus that one moment where everyone had forgotten Matic can actually coordinate his limbs in a way somewhat resembling a footballer.

(That Matic of old will never return. He's broken. He's been doing alright but the dominant physical force in midfield is gone.)

Tbh Liverpool have got a better attacking lineup than Chelsea.

Second goal we conceded was just a bad run of luck the ball deflected to Henderson and he finally got a long range shot on goal 9 out of the 10 times he would not have scored that.

things are slower in the serie a and pirlo played as a cdm for 10 years prior to conte. fabregas has played his own do-whatever position for 10 years. the first team demanding any defensive responsability of him shipped him out in favor of less offensively talented rakitic.

it's clear that fabregas is adament to adapt to conte, and based on contes statements he wants to make it work (whether it's true or not no one knows). but fab isn't and will never be pirlo.

two completely different players with two completely different backgrounds.
