I think the players look happy and hungry.

My only concern is alonso, granted he is still new to the team. I think he looks shaky defensively. I think If we get a world class LWB we would be pretty formidable. 

First manager in a long while that actually changed the system that didn't really work for us any more. He suited players in they favored position and the team plays as a unit rather than expecting the top boys to always do a good job. I always thought that three in the back in England doesn't work and it obviously does, our early goal helped a lot as Southampton had much of the ball in the first but managed only one shot from a free kick on target. In the second half a brilliant goal by Costa settled things and i knew we got the game settled. Three points from a really tough place to go, and the Saints lost last time at home against our sorry arses last season :lol: . I hope Roman finally gave up on mixing into the managers job and gives him the freedom to play his system and sign his own players. He gave a chance to Moses who is for me incredible since day one, he always does well for every manager in pre season but none gave him a chance. He feels like a new signing, we don't need a insane January but maybe we could strenghten the key positions a bit. We are a bit short on the wing back positions. 

Not sure how often it's been said, but boy do the boys look lean and fit and mightily hungry to play and win, Cahill, Costa, Hazard and especially Willian look mean and trimmer...

What a time to be a Chelsea fan again! 4 clean sheets, 4 wins in a row. A manager who gives a sh*t and evokes his passion onto his players. Costa & Hazard playing like two of the best players in the league at the moment. 11 players on the pitch who are hungry and want to win for their fans & the manager. Haven't been this optimistic in a long time. For me this was our best win out of the last 4 games. We put United away but they were useless. Southampton played well by all accounts but we stifled them. They're a good side and we didn't even give them a sniff. In Antonio we trust!

I watched the first half of the game on Sky Go at Wembley yesterday between watching what I'd actually paid to go and see but I missed the second half!

 

I've just finished watching the highlights and we could have quite easily scored 5 or 6 with the chances we had!

Some prat of a ‘fan’ on 5live moaning about how last season has taken the romance out of this season and how all of the players are spoilt, as if he was there in person and knows exactly what happened, none of us do. Look at the mess unfolding at United, I think Jose had a lot to do with last seasons form, his behaviour is erratic and he has lost it tactically, Conte is now getting the best out of these players. I think you'd have to be pretty spoilt yourself to not be enjoying this right now.

Taken the romance of this season? Well now i've heard it all, bet my bollocks he didn't see us finish bellow 4th ever.

Don't want to get carried away as it's still early days with the new system, but my what a turnaround...Hard to believe this is pretty much the same group of players that stunk the place out against Liverpool and Arse last month...would still take top four right now it was offered, but we have got ourselves right back in it...Conte deserves a lot of credit

I'm contemplating to change my mind on kante, he's not just your typical pure defensive midfielder, he's something more.. I reckon barcelona would come calling in not so distant future..

 

Another solid performance from all players, I think now we get back playing with a purpose again, players's performance level is at acceptable level, next would be enhancement on possession usage, can't just rely on individuals output

jog or jolt? anyway, ahem.. according to our opta friend here or there, it's indeed only 1 of the very few goals costa scrored from outside the penalty box, in fact it's only costa's 2nd goal in his career, well at least in his chelsea career.. The other one actually happened not too long time ago, in fact it's early this season against west ham..

 

Ok, I've done my impersonation of Martin tylers but don't be too eager taking my words for it, it still needs to be verified because it's based on my rusty memory, 1 thing for sure is costa didn't score many goals from outside the box, that's we are sure of..

According to match of the day that goal was only his second from outside the box for us.

i am a content fan!  the boys are killing it!!!  10/10 for everyone.................  

My weekend is made anytime I see Hazard and Costa on the scoresheet. Super result against stiff opposition. Great to see Matic patrolling like a destroyer.

Imagine if we can add Griezmann on the right instead of Pedro/Willian. An attack of Costa, Hazard and Griezmann would be lethal. Baby steps though.

Just a pity we hadn't figured this out before the Liverpool and Arsenal games - if we had we could well be top of the table right now.

At the start of the season, we had only Azpi, Terry, Cahil, Ivanovich and Aina as fit defenders.

I have no doubt that Conte had a back 3 in mind from the beginning but needed the players and then the poor results to make the change.

I must admit based on only a handful of times he's played I don't think he looks good enough to be a first XI player. Is it me or is he actually quite greedy on the ball too? Couple of times there has been a pass last few matches and he goes for a shot.

Maybe it's all part of settling in though, can't really judge him fairly until he's got more than a few appearances under his belt.

As happy as I am there is still this question in the back of my mind on how would we cope once we go a goal behind and teams start sitting deep.

Costa and Hazard will not have the space to run in behind and if were to try and stretch defenses by playing wide I don't think we have players good enough in the air to benefit from crosses into the box.
