Disappointing to know we won’t be anywhere close to signing Diomande. Same with the likes of Doue and the Georgian lad in recent seasons. The fall off happened quickly.

Doue moved for €50m though, and he is just having somewhat of a breakthrough season this year. As for Kvaratskhelia, he moved just last season for €70m on the back of a Serie A league title and Player of the season performance.

Diomande just isn’t a £105m player, and trying to sell a player for 5x what you paid for him after 1 season is nuts.

why and who would put this Lala lala clown next to Henry and Zlatan ??

Eloy Room and Curacao. Curacao get a point and an outstanding result.

ABC islands - must be crazy there right now. Conga-rats Curacao!!!

Caicedo was decent - shame we didnt get to see our "wonderkid"

Very pleased for Curaçao (it's part of sort of a Dutch commonwealth)! Our king and queen dashed from the The Netherlands match to the Curaçao match and I'm led to believe got selfies with practically every player.

A very entertaining match between Germany and Cote D'Ivore the latter should have won 6-3 so many chances missed.

I liked Ahmad for them thought he was their best attacking link-up player Diomande was fast though end product lacking most of the time.

Nagelsmand earned his bread with the late changes to win the match.

Makes me wonder how we will do against Ghana.

Oh I have spent a lot of time in the ABC islands - particularly Bonaire. Scuba diving innit. I love the Caribbean and the dutch bits are really good. Don't care too much for 'royals' though. lol.

On Sweden, Potter got his tactics wrong and changed them in the first half tohugh by then they were two down and they looked better after, Gyokeres does not look top drawer for me, works hard yet shots not good enough to beat the keeper. Isak looks a better player than I realised yet most of their chances fell to Aymari who was lightweight. In contrast at 2-0 the Netherlands were clinical and when they rather than Sweden got the next goal I switched over.

Potter got his tactics wrong, a story we are all too familiar with. Also, has to be said that Koeman got his tactics right and that the current dutch team might lack a superstar player (or three) but they are still a decent outfit. They play to the best of their abilities. De Jong is a really good player. The Netherlands are well organized and in form. They could go far.

Not a particularly big fan of the monarchy myself, but we could do a lot worse than the lot we have. Mostly low-key and generally sensible, apart from the odd failure to read the room 😏

I agree the Dutch looked good against Sweden though think the Swedish looked average, if they pick their game up they might beat Japan though not sure.

I have got two matches score right so far, Scotland against Morocco and Germany vs Ivory Coast so might start betting again. I also had the Dutch down to win to yesterday though did not get the result right.

Japan - the Blue samurais look bloody good though. Cannot see it happening. Japan are going to be very very hard for any team to beat.

I'm really bad at predicting games. I am a useless gambler. Generally at this stage the teams that are supposed to win - well they generally win. I feel that the results have been quite high scoring. This may be down to the extra breaks? counter attacking breaks and fast transitions and much less of the Tiki-Taka style of football. One of the 'BIG" teams is going to flop out and imho it might be Spain.

I have times when I can get things right and others can't get anything right.

There was a chap on here some time back that won big money on treble accumulators, that is impressive.

My biggest win was £100 on Conte winning the league and then £40 on something else though I only bet £1 or £2 these days.

Um … avoid gambling, my friend.

Yes, they did. Did you watch the game?

Morocco are an excellent team and Scotland competed with them. They kept Morocco down to only one goal and in the last part of the game they even - they even almost got a draw. Great determination and a great manager working with what little he has.

Yes, and I thought they were toothless. I'm not going to praise them for "great determination" either, that's the bare minimum requirement.

Brazil will likely struggle against Scotland; yes an early goal can change everything, but the way they are setup does not do well against low blocks imo.

Brazil is a second tier team in this tourney; they have good options up front but midfield and esp fullbacks are dire. 3 34yo starters and 2 play in Brazil—Casemiro going to MLS likely.

France remains the favorite for me; once we go into the knockout stages defending becomes extremely important and they look very strong in defense.
