June 25, 20179 yr I never took this rumour seriously even though it's been in the air for some weeks now (and apparently no one else one here did either) but it looks like we may have put in a 60m euros opening bid. Why though? This guy's 30 years old ffs. He's got 4 years left at most. We'll have three 30+ CBs. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see him in a Chelsea shirt. But his age is an issue for me. Why not just spend it on Van Dijk? At least you'll get 10 years out of a huge Van Dijk investment.
June 25, 20179 yr VVD isn't even in the same class as this guy. He's be a world class purchase, Italian centre backs tend to have a long life span and pace isn't his main asset just like JT and the great Maldini. I'd rather spend big on a proven world class defender than a guy who played in the SPL and latterly with Southampton

He is one of, if not the, best defenders in the game, leagues above vvd and if we have any chance of signing him then bollocks to the money, just get him.

I'm for spending big to improve the team immediately no problem with it, but if we have the choice of a good CB in his mid 20's like VVD or koulibaly then I prefer the younger player not only is it better value which I'm not overly concerned with but it offers a long term solution, over 30 you don't know which season will be the last, when the form will go, all it takes is an injury, if you can have a player that gives you 5 or 6 years it offers more stability, if there is no choice sure buy a 30 year old but if there are options with more years to give the club then you go for that all day it offers the club more contribution, it's just a better option Edited June 25, 20179 yr by DonAntonio
June 26, 20179 yr Would prefer Bonucci over VVD. If there is any chance of making this happen we should go all out, would inject some much need European experience into our squad.
June 27, 20179 yr Author Would prefer Bonucci over VVD. If there is any chance of making this happen we should go all out, would inject some much need European experience into our squad. Allegri already shut the rumours down. He's not leaving.
July 12, 20179 yr Looks like Bonucci could actually be leaving Juventus but it looks like he is going to Milan!
July 12, 20179 yr Apparently have offered De Sciglio & Romagnoli + cash to sign Bonucci. Romagnoli and cash?! They're mental. Edited July 12, 20179 yr by dansubrosa

We have 3 CL winners, 3 CL finalists, the second youngest scorer ever in the competition, the only players without CL experience are Alonso who has had Europa league experience and Kante, who was in the France team you went to the Euro 2016 finals. I'd say we have the most European pedigree in the league so not sure, while nice, European experience is something "much needed." Edited July 13, 20179 yr by DonAntonio

A journalist CLAIMED his agent texted him something like that. It is possible but I would be very surprised if he did considering his new contract, the son's situation and the fact that he should become the next captain when Buffon leaves. Then again maybe something really happened during the CL final that is beyond repair. It looks like a negotiation is happening though. Edited July 13, 20179 yr by B&Wlegends
July 13, 20179 yr he just signed one a few months ago, do not think Juve will offer one. If the rumors are true, and they increasingly look so then there might have been a fall out in Cardiff like it was reported a few weeks ago. If he does not want to stay he has to go, but I hope the club does not cave in and sell him to Milan at least
July 13, 20179 yr Would love him here at Chelsea. Fantastic player and would be an upgrade to any of the three in the back we have.

Not really aimed at you, but I'm sick of seeing 'Conte won't be happy' or 'Conte is furious over failed transfer targets' It's just a load of bollocks from newspapers. We are clearly going after his targets (Rudiger) and if he wanted Lukaku, then he'll have to understand we're not willing to pay over the odds including agent fees etc. Morata for cheaper makes a lot more sense.
July 13, 20179 yr I can't believe it, it looks like he is actually leaving and we could have got him but apparently he wants to stay in Italy, Conte needs to make some phone calls and convince him, but as of right now it looks like he will leave Juventus
July 13, 20179 yr If we signed him, we've have way too many CBs and have to get rid of a couple more, it would also almost certainly mean Christensen would be sold.
July 13, 20179 yr BREAKING: There is an agreement between Milan and Juventus to make the Bonucci-De Sciglio deals two separate ones [Sky].There is a gentleman agreement to sign Bonucci right away for €40m, the only nod to overcome is De Sciglio's price (€10-15m) [Sky] update: Milan agree Bonucci fee - medical tomorrow.
