Richarlison

I mean, is he any better than Boga or Musonda?

His 19 goals, 8 assists in 62 appearances (0.44 average) in Brazil's Serie A/Serie B and the Copa Sudamericana suggest he's worth a punt for me. Boga and Musonda are yet to get anywhere near those numbers.

If he is more talented than Musonda i would be very surprised.

And usually Real Madrid and Barcelona snap up the really good ones.

You see that Madrid paid something like £50m for a 16 year old who has one senior appearance but he won't move to Real until next year?

Musonda has talent I don't disagree but as yet no end product. It's the same story with Boga. For me 'talent' (or the perception of) is irrelevant without end product.

I accept that but the circumstances are different to that of Richarlison. Musonda first year of ever playing senior football in a foreign country where he doesn't speak the language playing in a much harder league for a team not that good.

Its unfair to compare thats what i am trying to say.

Stats alone make a bad marker for judging a player.

Look at the likes of Kezman, Depay and that striker Boro signed a few years back (Alves?). All had great stats in the Dutch league but all failed in the Premier League.

If he's a talent that needs nurturing then why not invest in Boga and/or Musonda?

Apparently not, but some teenage Brazilian he hadn't heard of until this morning is. Go figure.

One who doesn't look all that good on YouTube either .

Willian and Pedro both excellent players in there own right. Pedro can frustrate me with he general build up play and Willian with his lack of a killer instinct. But I would only look at replacing them with some one truly top draw, Alexis for example, anything less and the mins can go to boga etc

Was Kennedy highly rated in Brazil before he came here? He looked terrible yesterday imo and has never looked like a player who was at this level either.

I'm not sure he was that highly rated tbh - if he was that good I question why we were able to sign him for just ~6.3m.

Finding a genuine world class youngster is extremely difficult and like akin to finding a pearl in an oyster. I don't think we are looking for the next best thing, but a player with enough quality to either gain a place in the squad or go out on loan to make us a profit in the future.

Played for Brazil at under 20 level, i think thats when our scouts spotted him.

Tim Vickery said gave a summary of him and Nathan when we brought them, said we would never see either in a chelsea shirt. He was a little bit wrong but right now not looking far wrong

With Kennedy I see neither.

He looks like a Marin type but without ever excelling in a decent league like Marin had done prior to moving.

Probably should just get rid of him asap

Fair point, I wouldn't go as far to say stats make a bad marker but I don't agree they should be taken in a vacuum, i.e. Harry Kane didn't score many goals on loan but we all know how that's turned out. What his numbers suggest to me however is that Richarlison is perhaps ahead of Boga and Musonda on the development curve, perhaps even ready to play if we sign him.

I think clubs should stop trying to find the next Pele/Ronaldo in Brazil. The only striker Brazil has produced thus far since  the World Cup winners that has approached WC is Diego. Neymar is more a winger/inside forward. Most Brazilian strikers were taken in too early in their development and suffered. They do produce good fullbacks from time to time.

Oscar gained prominence because Ganso suffered injuries and failed to take off

Off topic a touch, but where is Nathan at now?  Still on loan at Vitesse?

My thoughts on young Brazilian signings is who gives a sh*t, our business approach is like an investor who funds startups, spend millions on ideas that he knows will mostly turn out sh*t but is fine with it because sooner or later he will get a facebook and it will pay him back 100 times over, and even if he doesn't he will sell them on after the first round and make a bit on top, either way can't lose, when we find the next neymar and he is starting for us I'll get excited.

i saw the 2nd half of that game tonight on bt sports and thought he played very well. scored a header at the end in the last mins but was offside, but seemed lively from what i saw in the 2nd half and he was constantly making off the ball, positive movement and trying to beat players; he definitely doesn't look like he is shy to look up and head towards goal, and he's got pace. going by that game and what the commentators said, it seems he has a bright future. ajax and both milan clubs are after him, but apparently we are the frontrunners for his signature. fluminese were also playing santos who are top of the table in the brazil league, so if he's performing like that against the best in brazil, then not bad at all.

Including the desire to succeed and a strong mentality.
