Chelsea vs. Inter Milan (Pre-season) Sat 29 Jul 2017 GMT 12:35

Featured Replies

Our final friendly before Community Shield.

Do we see Morata starting? We have scored 5 goals against Bayern and Arsenal combined which is pretty good. Michy is scoring for fun and Boga has impressed and surprised most of us.

Will we see Rudiger?

First half, I'd go:

Courtois

Alonso
Christensen
Luiz
Rudiger
Moses

Fabregas
Kante
Willian

Morata
Batshayui

Second half:

Azpilicueta on for Moses, and either him or Rudiger to RWB and see how they do
Batshayui off for Boga/Musonda and go back to 3-4-3
Baker on for Fabregas and see how he does in the centre
etc..

I think we will have to experiment a little more, would be good to see the 3-5-2, when else would we? I can see something like this

           Courtois
Christensen Luiz Rudiger
Azpi Kante Pasalic Moses
          Fabregas
   Batshuayi  Morata

(At half-time, Tomori for Azpi, Baker for Fabregas, Caballero for Courtois)

I think its unlikely we will play 2 up top. I reckon its going to be a case of the lads who have played the most in pre season getting a bit of a rest. so it would surprise me to see them line up such as

                       Courtois

             Christensen Luiz Cahill

Tomori                                  Alonso

               Pasalic  Kante

     Baker                       Fabregas

                   Morata

Bold selection I know, but id assume Bats, Willian, Azpi, Moses, Kante, Alonso etc could all potentially be benched as need a rest.

Hoping to see Mousanda get some playing time...he's been doing some intensive training drills so hopefully he's recovered sufficiently from the minor groin strain to get some minutes against Inter...

No idea what Conte would do but I'd give Kante and Fab a bit of a rest already. Such a long season it's going to be for Kante. Not sure who else can play there though.

If we were going to do any stuffing round with wing backs I'd maybe move Moses to the left, where he plays ok, used to play for Hull down the left very effectively and maybe use Tomori on the right

If Rudigiers fit I'd like to get a look at him.

Maybe Dave could play h1 at wing back and Tomori h2

Morata might get another 45 minutes. Doubt he'll start although could play him and Michy and bench Boga

If we don't repeat another slow 30 minutes like against Bayern we should ease past Inter. It is good to have a big squad to mix and when we add Hazard, Rudiger, Bakayoko and Pedro we will have enough quality to rotate throughout the season. Also Conte stated that he will get more signings so that is a plus as well.

its the charity/ community shield a week later & this is the last warm up match

Would expect to see most of the starters for Wembley start this Saturday ?

Not bad but rudiger should be in the right as should VM

Christian Cuevas has joined the squad.

The is hilarious, wasn't even good enough to make in into the starting eleven of my Belgian side STVV (who basically are relegation candidates every season) . Small, not quick enough defensive more or less fine but attacking not even worth a penny. The only reason I could think of why he would join these talented players is because Conte needs someone no wash the shirts.

It's more I think Conte has to try someone other than Alonso in that LWB role, or we're genuinely starting the season with just one player in our most physically demanding role.

Though Cuevas could offer something.... new? He's been on our books forever.

Also for anyone wonderingm Cuevas must have the rare ability to not make a single appearance not only for Chelsea but also for.... Vitesse. We sent him on loan there for a season and they sent him back in February before dropping a division in Holland to get game time... promising!

Some of these players I just don't understand why the club doesn't cut their losses and get rid of them. We've had quite a few like that, who weren't even up to the standards of minor leagues, but we kept them around far too long.

If Cuevas isn't brilliant, surely we must have a youngster on our books who can play left wing back what about Castillo ? we must have someone haha

we do we have jay da silva but he is on loan

They are beating Bayern 2-0 at the moment. Bayern aren't playing with anywhere near the same intensity they were showing against us though. Ribery has also gone off with another injury, the guy is as injury prone as Robben.

Odd decision to include him in the squad, only one game left and probably won't get a kick, then off he goes on loan, bizarre.
