Yeah, I'm not complaining about the red. Pedro was clearly running on empty, and made a desperation lunge. Got no-where near the ball and went studs up on the achilles. He didn't mean to do it, but it's hardly an outrageous red.

The defending from the set piece was for more disturbing to me.

Yep, and it could be argued that Bellerin's was worse in the first half. People say the refs get too much criticism, i don't think they do. If they are going to make contradicting decisions in every game, then they deserve criticism.

Must admit that I thought Bellerin could have been sent off in the first half with a studs up challenge on Alonso but I also saw why it could have been a yellow.

For the good of the sport, we need video referees to stop stuff like this happening. It's a charity shield now, but next week it's games worth millions of dollars left up to incompetent and often corrupt referees

The problem with video refs is that even with that, the refs are still f**king up. The Confederations Cup was a mess because of the way the refs handled video technology.
