Or followed our model under Abramovich when, you know, we won stuff. For them to come in and say things weren't working well from both a footballing side and business side, yet have performed worse is mad. Stop trying to focus on a model that only achieves mid table, if that, and follow a model that will win us trophies and get us competing again. These are smart businessmen, so I have no idea what they are playing at. Brighton made the most profit in the PL last year., and they won f**k all. The Brighton model is what they want, they aren't bothered about the football, they only want to extract money from our club.

That tricles down from the top all the way down, and I stand by what I have always said about them, they don't need us to be winning things for their model to make them money. Spot on. There's a misconception around our fan base that the owners need us to be successful in order for them to extract wealth from Chelsea. . We weren't profitable during our most successful period in history under Roman. Brighton were the most profitable club last year without being anywhere near successful. And ClearLake investment exists for one thing and one thing only. To extract wealth from its investments to provide returns to its investors.. It might be in the form of management fees and dividends when the 10 year embargo is up, or/and when they sell shares or the club. The other misconception is that they are " putting their money where their mouth is " No, it's our club's income that they are spending on transfers and wages. PSR rules don't allow otherwise.. If they had done nothing, we wouldn't have been plunged into a mess ,and going from debt free to skirting PSR sanctions, selling hotels to ourselves etc etc with BlueCo posting a loss of over £600 million. Oh, and despite saying our commercial side was under performing we still don't have a front of shirt sponsor and our sleeve sponsor went bust. And the club can't subsidise coach travel for fans as it's " unsustainable . Coach fans deserve a f**king medal, if you've ever gone away on a coach you'll know what I mean ,!!😥'

The lack of a shirt sponsor is damning and probably one of the clearest signs that we are in a real mess.

Is like some fans think it is all their money that went in to buying these players. Is not, is debt they loaded on to the club and they can still take money out despite the club being in debt. Just as the Glazers do.

You've only got to look at the billions taken out in dividends by investors who loaded debt free Thames Water with massive debts but from which the owners are able to extract massive wealth for themselves whilst avoiding UK tax by using our tax havens . Bit off topic, , well a lot off topic really, but it's how Private Equity corporate investments work..
January 27, 20251 yr Very interesting bit from John Mikel Obi. As quoted on Younes latest video Mikel, who was in Dubai, said "i have spoken to Roman. Roman is still angry at what happened, very angry. How he was treated and how he lost his baby". A lot of us are still angry too Roman. The UK government overstretched their power in to something that was none of their damn business in order to get political and financial favours, and no we suffer. Would not be surprised if they got kickbacks from Clearlake. Edited January 27, 20251 yr by axman2526

I think the BBC are worse than the Daily Mail these days. No sign of this story on the DM btw. Wynne Evans is their main story 🙂

But i doubt if it has any chance of it distracting from the AI meltdown. No one should be surprised that billionaires don't pay much tax anyway, it's hardly a secret..

Wynne Evans is their main story 🙂 Ah, it's top news on the BBC because it's the result of a year long investigation by BBC Radio 4 which uncovered the earth shattering news that the wealthy use every means possible to avoid paying taxes. I also read that the Canadian government seized millions of cash from Roman a few years ago to be used in the reconstruction of Ukraine. . Questions now being raised as the money is still sitting in a Bank account years after it was seized. Sounds familiar. January 28, 20251 yr Whilst all the sh*t is flying around about Roman, anyone watched Younes on Johnny Minerals' youtube show. About the ticketing? Fck me.
January 28, 20251 yr Why cant we follow Liverpools model? They have American owners and don't overspend on dross.

January 28, 20251 yr Although I think it's fair to say, although we can blame the new ownership for various poor decisions, this downward spiral set in about a decade ago under Roman after the Jose won the league with us during his second stint. We should have been way more dominant over the last decade than we have been.

Nice money maker for them with that ticket website. With Todd kn the board of that company as well lol. Maybe one day all Chelsea fans will realize these guys are everything I feared them to be, the next level of the Glazers. 5 minutes ago, Sexyfootball said: I'm a relative newcomer to that channel. Since they first came in, was one of the few ways they could Milk money from the club before spending the contracted 1.75billion, to allow them to take money out of the club. Means Todd has been paid 50mill by the club so far. Nice earner. Highest paid job at the club. After 5 years either Egbahli or Feliciano takes the chairman spot. The money they spent was not from their own pockets, Roman forgave a debt of 1.5bill, they spent 1.5bill and put the debt on the club.
January 28, 20251 yr Also worth remembering some say the owners cannot make money without us winning, being a CL team. The most profitable side in the PL, is it Man City? Or Liverpool? No it is... Spurs! Same Spurs who never win anything, rarely in the CL, they rake in money for EINC and Levy.

Irrespective of the government's refusal to renew Abramovich's visa, the transfer embargo, him subsequently having to delegate running of the club whilst residing abroad, then the sanctions and his enforced sale of the club, the fact remains that Abramovich handed the club over totally debt free. Clearlake and Boehly purchased the club and have already spent the funds they had to commit over a 10 year period. Due to the PSR rules in existence you can't just pump money in, so this additional spending is not a golden egg, its come from our income. And here we are, no elite keeper, no elite striker, a potentially world class but paper thin midfield and a stable of young players purchas3d for over inflated fees that we are unable to trade on. None of this can be laid at Abramovich's door. I don't know the answer, there are better posters on here than me, but I wonder how many players at the club now where actually recruited during Roman's tenure.

So it seems to me that laying the responsibility for the woes of our club for the performances of the team, the quality of individual players, the strategy and financial wellbeing of the club as a whole at Abramovich's door is somewhat mis-directed.
January 29, 20251 yr The downside to accumalating players is that the club could get a bad rep with youngsters and older pros about how we treat players. Literally forcing players out of the club to sign makeweight players to sell six months later isnt a strategy I really understand. Its like the contracts have become panini stickers to be traded and swapped. Absolutely bazaar strategy.

Buy expensively ... wear once, leave in wardrobe for a few months. Sell on eBay or Vinted ... typically at a massive loss. Rinse and repeat ... 🙂
