The frustration is understandable but endless change is what has made us one of the most successful clubs of the past 15 years.

Despite the managerial circus, we have done very well,  but we could and should of won more. More league titles, more CL titles. We had the best defence the league has ever seen, we had the highest scoring midfielder in premiership history, the best defensive midfielder the World has seen.

Its also brought us some awful seasons in recent years and isn't sustainable for much longer.

I think loads of us have been saying it isn't sustainable since Jose left 1st time around but we keep managing to win trophies consistently.

I agree that the current climate makes that look increasingly unlikely in the future but we somehow manage to.

It wouldn't be so bad if we hired similar managers.

Its the constant shift from reactive playing style to a progressive style. Roman needs to choose what he wants and stick with it. We've laid the foundations with Sarri now, i just hope we build on it and not just hire Allegri.

We have to remember in that time we have been up against Fergusons United side who are regarded as one of the best English teams in history then Arsenals invincible's and the surge of City.

CL we have been unlucky, 1 kick away from winning it and been cheated by Barcelona which would have made 3 in total...none of which are due to a manager or underperforming just bad luck

Yeah it just seems to go back and forth to whatever big name is available or flavour of the month.

Going from Conte to Sarri then back to a defensive type would be counter productive but it wouldn't be a shock given our history.

Yeah sure i get that. But in 2007 when we started this whole managerial circus by sacking Mourinho, we had a squad of players that should of dominated the league and ripped up Europe for a long time after the 2004-2006 period. I certainly think we would of won the CL in 2008 with Jose in charge over Grant, Jose had Fergys number back then.

The teams had three glaring weaknesses though - Kalou, Malouda and Mikel, who were way below the  quality of the other players. Ramires had his moments, but he was a scruffy player  who gave the ball away too much. We kept persevearing with Oscar for far too long. So there's five players straight off the bat who held Chelsea back.

You dont get my point, those players you mentioned are not from the 2004-2006 back to back league title winning squad. The squad Jose got sacked from, when this whole circus started. Those players you mentioned came as a result of the circus, so really you are proving my point.

Kalou and Mikel was brought in by Mourinho after his second season.

Mikel especially was a great player for us so calling him a glaring weakness is very unfair in any case. Very underrated by many unfortunately as he wasn't flashy but he really was excellent for us.

Mikel was extremely limited! Desperately slow (as slow as Jorghino) utterly useless past the halfway line and barely made a pass of more than 10 yards. Dreadful, dreadful waste of space.

People should be banned from speaking about Mikel and besmirching his good name with the same sh*tty arguments.

What a poor take this is. Anchored our team superbly. Was also enormous that night in Munich.

This from Ruben Neves should provide some insight:

"At Porto, all midfielders were given DVDs of Mikel to take home and study every day. We used to call him the 'professor of football'."

Jose has shown he is not a longterm manager for a club. Even after two seasons the team stagnated and started going backwards. His methods soon become boring and players tire of playing with a straight jacket on. And then there's the whole circus that surrounds him wherever he goes. It becomes more about him than team and club and it all starts to bea real drag.

How do feel about Allegri’s defensive brand of football?

I do not mind Allegri's style of play. It isn't fair to name it "defensive", he wants balance in the team and so do I.

I thought the Mikel fan-club had long been disbanded?!!

Of course he had a good game here ad there. So too did Kalou, Malouda,  Ramires - that finish at Barca was world class!  Blimey, even Bakayoko had moments.

Bakayoko! Now I know you're looking to get a rise out of us!

Still Mikel gets no respect even after all these years. I suggest you watch Munich carefully and see that he was nearly MoM that night.

First season, wins the title, second season wins the title, third finishes 2nd wins fa cup, would of won CL if not for the ghost goal semi final.

May 1st 2007, Chelsea still on for the quadruple, the closest any team has ever been).

Sep 20th 2007 Mourinho sacked.... by mutal consent.

We did the right thing parting ways with Mourinho back in 2007, he has proved since that he's not a long term manager, in fact I think that was his longest job to date. We were playing dire football, and the dressing room was not a happy place at the time, something had to be done. There are no guarantees we'd have won the CL in 08 with Jose, he was stopped by Benitez on two occasions prior, we might not have made it to the final had he stayed, it's all speculation.

Sticking with the same manager or changing them fairly regularly doesn't have much influence on the quality of the squad, as long as you have lots of money and are known for ambition to compete for, and win trophies.

Our 2004-08 squad was phenomenal, but there was a reason for that. We were the biggest spenders at the time and there was no FFP around. We couldn't possibly sustain that level of spending and had to set up some sort of a business model for the club to move forward without falling foul of the new financial rules. On top of it, the emergence of oil state clubs like PSG and City took spending to a whole new level and made things even more difficult. Real and Barca still have the appeal and prestige on top of sizable finanacial muscle, City, Pool, United and PSG can easily spend as much as we do, and the transfer market is ridiculously inflated. Back when Roman took over, 24m for Drogba or 30m for Ferdinand were considered huge fees for top players, try getting someone half decent for that sort of money nowadays.

We should have spent better in terms of value for money, especially in the last few years, but I'm afraid we'll never have the luxury of having anything close to what we've had back during Jose's first time at the club.

Their are two instances sat on the top of the premier league table and miles clear of us that blows your theory out of the water.

Guessing you think Carrick was sh*t at Utd too?

Since when are Liverpool known for ambition? They sell all their best players to Spain and haven't won a trophy in a decade (until last week).

Not enough step overs and back heels for some....
