Flares in the away end

That sort of reporting is exactly what you would expect from the media, not a single mention that it was a Liverpool fan who threw it. 2 mentions of where it came from (upper tier & top tier) and a "At this stage it's not clear who threw the flare." If that was at the Bridge it would be framed as "Chelsea fans throw flare at Liverpool fans" and that would be the headline or they'd mentioned the injured child, it definitely would not be "Police look at Anfield flare incident" ffs.

Because

Chelsea ban fan who threw flare is easy to report

But as Liverpool pretend that nothing happened, it gets left to a police incident and the press can't report on that in the same way. It's clever from Liverpool but not good.

Everyone has forgotten about the arsenal fan on video shouting the n word. Because they "investigated it". They didn't ban anyone immediately, they brushed it under the carpet. We don't do that.

It's mad that in the world we currently live in, a few drunken morons singing a song in a pub is considered a bigger crime that throwing a flare and injuring a 9 year old child.

Actually let that sink in.

It's crazy times....

You can’t criticise Liverpool for anything because they’re so good at playing the victim you’ll come to regret it sooner or later. It’s easier to just ignore them.

It used to be sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me.

Now all of a sudden words are more offensive than deeds.

Nothing offends more than a smack in the gob or a lighted flare down your trousers IMO

Edit: Danny Rose after a few idiots made monkey noises saying he’s sick of it all and can’t wait to retire.

Never mind the hundreds of games he’s played before to packed stadiums with no abuse?

Get a ....... grip.

I won't comment on which is worse between the flare, and the incident in Prague, beyond saying that there should be no place for either in the modern game.

However the way Liverpool acted as a club in the case of both incidents has been inappropriate. First of all they chose to publicly get involved in the Prague case despite the fact that we had already clearly handled it very quickly. By doing so they managed to make it about them and politicize the event directly before our game Sunday. This effectively fired up both the players and their fans, and you could argue that it may have contributed to the hostile atmosphere that led to them throwing a flare into our end.

Then after the flare incident on Sunday there has been no comment from Liverpool. Not even an effort to apologize to the kid and his family for the terrifying experience they had in Liverpool's stadium. Again purely because Liverpool didn't dare to make any comment that might make them look culpable. The club is a total disgrace and should be called out for such double standards.

I would also add that I am disappointed that Chelsea haven't made any public comment about the incident to date, This is one of our regular, young fans who was the victim here. How about they stand up for our fans for once?

Honestly couldn't give less of a f**k what the media does or doesn't say about this or how it compares in severity to what our idiot fans did in Prague.

I hope the little girl is ok.

Absolutely mate, it's bonkers, but this is Liverpool FC we are talking about. sh*t never sticks to them. 34 years ago 30 odd Juve fans were killed when dippers fans charged them, we never hear about it, infact it was soon forgotten about by the club and media.

Normally i would agree, but the irony in this story is it all happened on the 30th anniversary of Hillsborough. Their own fans showing no respect for the memory of the dead, absolutely deplorable if you ask me.

Sounds like the boy is OK thankfully. Also Chelsea invited him and his Mum as special guests for the U23 match last night according to this article:

Our fans were commended for their impeccable observance of the occasion, and respect shown throughout.

and rightly so, for all the bad attention we've got lately, it's welcome.

And only last year they attacked and trashed  ManCity's coach when arriving to their ground and gets forgotten. The red smoke bombs is also nothing new, I've seen them at the Bridge and they also got fined in their match against City for flares. But nothing sticks to them, poor old scum never their fault, only that of a "never ending" few.

Between 82-84 while the casual scene was at it's height we'd be home to teams like Shrewsbury and Carlisle there were always flares in the away end.?

Plus donkey jackets and moustaches. Liverpool might have been the first with casual, but when Londoners got into the swing of things we made them look like sacks of sh*te.

The shame, is that I actually love a bit of pyro at football. If used sensibly, it shouldn't really cause anyone any harm or distress.

When, however, it is used as a missile and cowardly launched into a group of people from above, with no regard for who it may hit (in this case a vulnerable child) it becomes very dangerous indeed.

It is a good job that entire fan bases are never blamed for the actions of single idiots amongst them,  otherwise I might suggest that, in the 34 years since they were responsible for the Heysel tragedy were 39 innocent Juventus fans lost their lives because of them, Liverpools fan base has not learnt a thing with regards to the safety of opposition fans in football stadiums.

I suppose it is like us with some racist fans just a minority that give the rest a bad name.

I would have liked to have seen some more coverage on this incident in the media about the dangers of doing this and mentioning those Liverpool fans as in comparison anything negative to do with Chelsea seems to run on and on.........
