Maybe, but if he was an outlier in those teams he would have eventually got picked up by a team at a higher level, if not after the first time defiently the second.

That was my thinking also, with Fofana out he could have provided cover along with Chalobah with both players capable of playing multiple roles. Assess the situation in the summer and if we need to sell either or both, we would have boosted their values. 
The £7m for a Welsh international with 47 top level starts, CL & Europa league is a bad deal when you consider Man City just sold a kid with 27mins PL experience for £10.5m potentially rising to £15m

I feel it's a mix of that keeper being the star man at Bolton and Kompany knowing him that helped in this situation.

If we cashed in on the hype with Ampadu in 2019 we could have probably got a similar price.

At the very least we should have kept him until deadline day just in case we can't get our midfield signings done for whatever reason. I'm really not confident on Caicedo being done smoothly. 

Let's look at worse case scenario and assume he performs badly. He's still a Welsh intentional, young and has experience. We will have offers for £7m next summer as well based purely on that alone.

Absolutely not good enough for our defense but a low risk backup option for DM.

Don’t you know we have the best scouts on this forum they know far more about our players than the people who monitor them 24/7!!

Burnley just paid £15-19m for a Man City goalkeeper who has never played in the PL - only on loan in League One, plus in the England U-21s. Ampadu has a far superior track record to that !
