What difference does it make where they come from ? This isn't the politics thread Strider.

It is just that it will look like they are our feeder club as we have no decent scouts.

Liverpool look likely to win a league title based almost entirely in buying players from Southampton.

Enlighten me, VVD and who are the others?

Kante and who are the others? Drinkwater doesn't count as we've binned him.

Give a sh*t if we seem like a feeder club anyway. Get the best players.

Thanks, I could only think of Lallana who has not excelled there.

With Mane and Lovren together with VVD it makes you wonder again about the media!

We got criticised for getting Kante who supposedly won us the league, so I could imagine the backlash that we would get should we win a big trophy with an ex-Leicester player doing well!

Seriously though look at the table they are above us, would they realistically sell the plaer they brought in to replace Maguire?

He was already at Leicester, a year before Maguire left.

Don't think we need a lot tbh. I'm thinking a second striker. Batshuayi showed that we need a better option behind Tammy, especially against squads like City and Liverpool. The nice thing about the match Saturday is it showed us how close we really are. This would be my focus in the summer:

A left back

A right winger

A striker

The striker isn't my top priority as I am looking more for squad depth than starter there so I'm gonna be more patient with that role. However, I would be very aggressive in identifying a LB and RW that I want. If that's Chillwell and Sancho then fine. But let's identify who we want and go after them.

Highest rated player at Wolves(5th) this season, in fact higher rating than any of our players.

Center Back:

Incoming: World Class CB like Romagnoli or Koulibaly and maybe Ake as well

Outgoing: Zouma, Rudiger

Left Back:

Incoming: Chilwell? Not ideal, but can't really think of many other signings at the moment, 70m is very steep though. Emerson is a good backup option to have.

Outgoing: Alonso.

Center Midfield:

Incoming: We don't need anyone coming in.

Outgoing: Barkley

Wingers:

Incoming: Sancho, Neres, Ziyech (Not all 3, but if we can get Sancho + 1 of the other 2 that'll be perfect)

Outgoing: Willian, Pedro

Forwards:

Incoming: Struggling to think who we can have here to provide competition for Tammy. Id go with someone like a Dembele, but its tough to say who can lead the line atm.

Outgoing: Giroud, Bats

These are just the options in our first team squad, we need to dispose of some more deadwood currently out on loan like Bakayoko and Stanny. Think the youth we have currently out could do with another season or 2 at higher levels to get ready for first team action. Gallagher is playing exceptional right now, and i think if he was to get a season in the prem next year and playing regularly, he could become one hell of a player for us the following season

And throw in potentially getting Dybala too, think he'd be a fantastic signing. Too bad I can't really see him leaving Juve atm, especially as Ronaldo has been awful as of late

Not keen on Sancho think maybe the 'bright lights' have got to him.

I hear we keep being linked with an Albanian right back which could mean Azpi moving to the left side. James as back up.

We need a strong reserve striker with a good football brain, not Bats. That Pukki chap from Norwich might do at season's end.

Cant see signing hysaj, the links were mainly because of sarri, and he hasnt been a regular at napoli for a while.

Pukki is approaching 30, and barring a blistering start to this season,  which has tailed off dramatically, he hasnt done anything in career that would suggest he would be a good signing.

I didn't realise he was that old, got an assist up at Everton and think with our service he would do better though agree we need someone younger.

Hysaj, that seems like the name we are being linked with yet haven't seen him play so can't comment further.

Apart from those three positions, I personally think we have to spend heavily to bring in top quality CBs and even the RB spot is up for grabs. People are desperate for Rudiger to return, but even at his best, he's not a world class CB, never was, not to mention what shape he comes back in after a long layoff. Christensen is never going to be good enough, too weak both physically and mentally, needs to move on. Zouma would be a great asset to have in a squad, but he's never a first choice in a top side, too clumsy with the ball and not a good passer, just don't have the right characteristics for the team Lampard is trying to create. Tomori is still learning, but needs time and a better more experienced player alongside him to guide him and show what to do, Kurt is not that because he can't do those things properly himself. So in my view we need to bring at the very least one top class CB and let Tomori/Rudiger fight for the second spot.

Basically agree word-for-word with this, and think a world-class CB should be the #1 priority with a left back #2 priority  (I'd be ok with just two world class signings in these two areas).  We are scoring plenty of goals and keeping possession against the best of them (Guardiola-City) so attack and midfield are fine, but we won't win anything sporting one the worst defensive records at Chelsea since the premier league era began.

We are basically where Liverpool was before they got Van Dijk, Alisson and Robertson.

What about Skriniar at Inter? Not saying he's available, but just as a suggestion. I keep hearing his name, but wonder if those watching Serie A regularly know how good he really is.

He is very good and certainly attainable but will be very expensive; around the £80m+ mark. However, his agent has been linking him to Madrid who need to replace Ramos. Barca who need a replacement for Pique, and City a replacement for Kompany are the other interested parties.
I wouldn’t bother getting into a price war for him.

i like skriniar, but with the bad blood between conte and chelsea, im sure he will do everything in his power to stop that happening.

Agree.. Leipzig have potentially 2 worldclass CBs in Upamecano & Konate, Ruben Dias at Benfica is another very good CB.

like all 3 of them, especially dias. Kamara from Marseille looks interesting aswell,  great passing range.

You are right on Boubacar Kamara, his ball playing skills are amazing and reminds me of Laporte. I wouldn’t be too fussed about spending on very good young players, as we could potentially have a brilliant side in 3 seasons.

They even sign Southampton players indirectly (Oxlade-Chamberlain)!
