February 14, 20206 yr Yes still 4 teams. The team in 5th will qualify, which is Sheff Utd as things stand. Of course our chances of qualifying increase as well, so good news all round.
February 14, 20206 yr Huge bit of slack for us to qualify for next season, nice. Pep's not going to stick around and they'll probably only be able to attract mercenaries again now, I can see them going back to their 2008 form.
February 14, 20206 yr This makes 4th place a bit easier to manage, what a boost at city’s demise, wish it was Liverpool or Utd or the spuds I don’t really have the same detest for city
February 14, 20206 yr I feel like this isn't the end of the whole story though, someone important from City will complain and use all possible contacts and God knows what to change this...
February 14, 20206 yr To quote myself from the other thread I doubt it sticks. City can afford the best lawyers money can buy, as well as bribes. Can see CAS reducing on appeal to no ban and a fine of 2.4mill, suspended of course. Edited February 14, 20206 yr by axman2526
February 14, 20206 yr shocking...who would have guessed? Seriously though.....wonder if our appeal process with UEFA and their eventual appeal will go down the same way.
February 15, 20206 yr They can fix this problem with the same medicine they used to get into this mess in the first place....anyway if it sticks wonder if Pep wants to stay.
February 15, 20206 yr Massive news and has big ramifications for the rest of the season. Assuming the CL ban is upheld, we give ourselves a massive chance to qualify for the Champions League and consolidate the good work that's been produced by Frank thus far. Interesting times ahead for City. Will the appeal be successful? Will Pep stay at the club beyond this season? Will there be a mass exodus by the playing squad? How do they go about rebuilding their squad successfully despite the ban? Will further punishments be awaiting them on the domestic front such as points deduction? Could the City owners consider selling? Many unanswered questions, but the next few weeks and months are going to be intriguing. A lot of clubs will be cheering this decision today.

Because if they get docked points for last season then it gives the dippers another PL title... potentially one for United as well depending on how many points are deducted.

If nothing changes, this might impact Man City so much that they might feel like they did a Leeds United or like it was some Calciopoli type of thing.

February 17, 20206 yr I've been reading up on this, trying to figure out why City have received the ban when PSG didn't. It seems that PSG helped UEFA at every step of their enquiry, whilst City have categorically blocked theirs. Interestingly, after PSG were cleared of official wrondoing, their owner was appointed as a EUFA ambassador which screams corruption, but hey-ho. Seems that the ban and fine imposed on City is more of a message to all other clubs: don't try and fight UEFA. Looking at the City have responded, it looks like they are going to continue fighting the sentence and try to drag out a long expensive legal battle to reduce the ban. If that works, it makes a laughing stock of UEFA. If it doesn't there must be similar ramifications for all clubs who try and fight UEFA in their enquiries, hugely increasing their authority. It's all quite worrying for football, bloody politics getting involved and ruining the game.
February 26, 20206 yr As expected, City's appeal has been registered by CAS. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/51643289

It's not just something City need to know, this is something that effects the whole league, we all need to know where we stand with European spots being up for grabs.
