Criticise VAR all you like, but at least it now means holding in the box at corners and free kicks is a nailed on pen every time.  Without VAR it was a lottery whether they'd be spotted.

Imagine if they gave that penalty in Italy, the game would turn into a penalty shoot out.

BT pundits all agree it was a clear penalty, but all of them fail to point out the grotesque inconsistency with which VAR chooses to get involved and tell the ref to review holding incidents, which happen at 90%+ of corners/ free kicks. Micky Gray on TalkSh!te did at least make this point.
