November 6, 20223 yr City were just looking for some fools to take him off their hands. Chelsea was successful in their application.
November 6, 20223 yr Author I did not want to be right about him, but sadly looks like I am. Another Lukaku to try and shift.

Both deals should never have happened, a times it’s better to do nothing. Gabriel cost Arsenal £26m, Saliba £30m, both look miles ahead of Koulibaly and still way of their peak. We are stuck with an ageing Koulibaly for the next 4 seasons, & you just know we will take up the 5th year option.
November 6, 20223 yr Seems to be a consequence of frequently changing managers no-one gets the players they want. It has been happening for a while now.

That isn’t the problem though, it’s a lack of structure. If we had a football director who buys the players, appoints the manager and helped set a road map for the club, it wouldn’t be an issue sacking managers yearly. In the last 6yrs since Klopp took over at Liverpool, we have had 6 managers, Bayern have had 6 managers also, and Madrid have had 7. In that period Klopp has spent over £500m, and won 1 league title & the CL. Fans keep pointing to Pep at City but he is an outlier, and the best manager on the planet. It’s a bit pointless keeping a manager for 5yrs if he isn’t making any progress. How do you even measure that progress if you retain a manager for 5yrs? Pep isn’t leaving City anytime soon, and he is odds on to be winning the league every year.
November 6, 20223 yr Does he have pictures of Potter's wife in compromising positions? Why else is he starting every week. On performances he's one of our worst players. Still not a league goal or assist since August. FFS what are the standards here to keep running this bum out for 90 a week? Edited November 6, 20223 yr by HonoreMeiBalsac
November 6, 20223 yr @ducavis It reminds of Mourning coming and bringing 5 Portuguese players with him and three became first teamers and then we bought yet that was before FFP. Edited November 6, 20223 yr by strider6004

Even with a structure seems to me a big difference between a 3-5-2 and a 4-3-3 how does a structure accomodate this especially under FFP. I'm not usre they can any more realistically

We will have to worry about Todd buying more overrated, one trick ponys like Sterling.

At the moment he clearly thinks Sterling, Mount, Havertz and Auba are the attackers to go with. Or hopefully he is playing them to show Todd "yup they are sh*t, what are you going to do about it?"

Let's not forget he's been trying to shoehorn him in all over the place to cover for injured players.

Can you imagine someone asking Lukaku to do that for the team? Same result as Sterling. Same ego. Maybe he is under instruction from Todd that Sterling needs to play.
November 6, 20223 yr Honestly i think we are criticising Sterling more than he deserves too. He is still a good player, didn't become terrible all of a sudden. It doesn't help that Potter played him as WB. It doesn't help that we look disorganised as a team and we have no plan or style of play. It doesn't help that we have some very poor players around him. Before Potter took over he was our best player. It sad to see but i cant think of a single player that is playing better now with Potter than when we had Tuchel so his form is not all on him.
November 6, 20223 yr We signed him to be that finisher in the box, now he hardly gets in the box. Of course we could blame him for lack of effort, but he's a player to finish off movements, not defending against wingers. Bench or get rid him off ( if it's even possible) it's not going to fix anything, we will sign a Diaby and turn him into a LWB the way we been going.

Aubameyang even said Arteta prefers working with younger players because they don’t ask questions. We are stuck with him for the next 5 seasons because no club inside the PL will touch those wages, and European clubs think English players are overrated.

Hmm so we signed him for the same reason as Lukaku and have been left with the same problem. Start where the former owner left off lol
November 7, 20223 yr He started promisingly under Tuchel but has got worse by the week and yesterday he was bloody hopeless. That bit in the game where he had the ball and seemed to think he had all the time in the world when everyone watching could see he was about to have his pocket picked by an Arsenal player - it was just plain embarrassing.

I agree except your last sentence. Kepa actually has played well and for me so has Silva. James has got injured, Kova has been injured and Kante is nowhere to be seen. Most of our attackers are right footed so needs service from the right side, no James and we struggle. Kova's dribbling can open up the middle if he has cover, yet he has been injured. Down the left we struggle to get crosses over and as most of our attackers are right footed they have to control before shooting which gives the defence time. For me Sterling is good in a front two not wide in a three. Signing Auba has pushed Sterling wide..........
