Raheem Sterling signs for Chelsea

Featured Replies

If Chelsea gets a chance to ship him somewhere, it would be a very good idea. If he thinks he's too good or too much of a superstar or something to play like GP or any other coach wants him to - f**k him. He is a somewhat limited player that Pep was happy to sell to what is supposed to a rival... says a fair bit. Not sure which team could afford him though.

Where are you drawing this conclusion from, last couple of times he played he had a smile on his face he was creating goals or scoring. Don't believe everything they write in the papers, it's literally their job to create drama from nothing. That being said if he wants to go he knows where the door is as do all the players

You can spot a Potter apologist if they show a lot of aggression out of nowhere.

Its my impression from his body language. Could be wrong of course.

If he stays, he probably needs to be absorbed by the team rather than being supposed to lead it. In Manchester City there was a lot of other players who carried weight and allowed Sterling one on ones rather than the one on two-or-threes he now often finds himself in.

Oh yeah... because the rest of you lot are certainly a calm and collected bunch, discussing issues in a sensible and well-mannered fashion...

He was definitely a Tuchel signing based on comments. He’s performances have dropped off massively post Tuchel. I don’t think he’s impressed at all by Potter.

Can you blame him? Sterling is a winner and going from being coached by Guardiola then Tuchel to the personification of Midtable must be incredibly frustrating especially in the prime of his career.

I do find it strange how many are so quick to give up on Sterling and back Potter when Raheem was our best player at the start of the season and looked fantastic under Tuchel it was only when Potter came in and played him at wingback while our 60m wingback played at centre back his form spiralled.

A top manager gets the most out of his players and I think Raheem still has a lot to give here either under Potter or when we replace him.

Based his performances under Potter, I think it’s more a question of whether he wants it or not.

None of us know the truth of matter. But would anyone be surprised if he came because of Tuchel, a CL winner and world Champ, and the big contract? If he did half his motivation went early.

Of course, because he is not playing in his natural position more often than not. Part of that reason is that he is a limited footballer and something of a luxury. We are in a backs to the wall period so Potter seems torn between the need to play a "senior" player out there and finding a space for him and of course then he delivers squat. Being limited in ability anyway clearly he is going to struggle in unfamiliar positions and tactics. It's a downward spiral.

When exactly did he look "fantastic" under Tuchel.

Came for the big final contract IMO. You just don’t leave a club that has won 4 of the 5 league titles and trade it for one that has finished close to 20pts in the last 2 season. Most players in his shoes would have stayed on the same contract with the add-ons in incentives. I also didn’t buy his mins argument, he was still starting 58% of their games and that was an incentive to work harder.

Yeah I would like to know this too. He did ok early on, scored a few goals but wasnt exactly brilliant.

When he started playing for us, those first few matches he was almost the first name on the starting lineup. Even if he was more wide he had the space to cut inside and he did make a difference in the final third.

It will be interesting to see who gets to start on that left hand side once all are back including the new guy.

Take what ever we can get, overpaid lightweight.

Sources have told Football Insider apparently. So that's real of course.

Agreed that i think he will be moved on at some point, but we're going to get burned badly, undoubtedly

For example these games. Involved in everything. Brilliant against Tottenham, one of the few who were good against Southampton and West Ham as well.

Potter have messed Sterling up trying to play him all over the pitch. There is no doubt he's got great quality. Just been completely wasted.

And now we've spent nearly £90 million on replacing someone who doesn't need replacing. But at least we get a new shiny toy from Ukraine.

Not even up for debate; he might start on the bench v Liverpool, but I expect him to be a nailed on starter on the LW. Fully expect us to transition to a 4-2-3-1, with Murdyk/Felix/Mount on the LW, Felix/Mount in the AM, and  Mount/Sterling/Ziyech on the RW, all behind Havertz.

Long term it will be Murdyk, Nkunku, + 1 behind a CF. Would love to try Mount in the 2 ahead of the defence next to Jorginho or Zakaria in the interim. Think with some positional discipline he could play that role.

+ 1 can hopefully be Felix? It's a tasty attack if we get a proper CF in.

Where it leaves Mount though I don't know. I don't think he will ever be a pivot player.
I worry a bit about Mount. Really want him to stay but he should be about to lose his place in the XI the way he's been playing. But that throws you into a catch-22 as we all want him to extend but chances of him doing so would be even slimmer if he's become a bench option for the time being.

Ha ha. He's on a high paid, high(ish) profile retirement. He was a complete waste of money - regardless of who our manager is/was. Madness that we went anywhere near him and now you could argue that his fee and salary might have contributed to our cock up over signing Fernandez. Especially now we've signed Mudryk and Sterling is of even less use.

Personally not sold on Felix; and I don’t get the love in, it is still early days. Even if he is a success wouldn’t pay more than £50m, & would need him to drop his wages to £150k/w. European football is littered with players that have done well on loan but turned to sh*t once the move is permanent.
