Chelsea in America (US Preseason Tour) 2022

Stupid idea to leave it on this season IMO, it's now history so has no significance

Well we are still world champions so have the right to wear it. Thing is the next tournament is not scheduled yet and we have a world cup in december, we might have to wear it for longer than usual this season.

Gallagher looks good, nice pass to Kai there, though Havertz couldn’t finish.

There in is the story of Kai Havertz. The occasional goal, sometimes a key one like the CL final, but all too often a weak finisher.

I can’t believe we will ply with this awful back 3 formation for another season.. no chance of winning the league with this.

Wouldn't read too much into that...TT will play a back 3 or 4, plus Sarr won't be in the line up

Our midfield need to combine more with the defense. Part of the reason why Kova and Jorgi is so crucial for us is that both of them are good links for defense and attack.

If Barkley and Gallagher don't prove this to Tuchel, it's going to be a long season for them

To me its tacky, don't see any other teams who have won it displaying it on their shirts.  Just as well have stars on the shirt or shorts for EPL wins, Cup wins, EUFA wins, then the shirt and shorts will look like Kenedy's legs with no room left for anything else.

I'd be wary of reading too much into the performance. This is about fitness and a chance for the fringe players to impress. Note also that Club America are three games into their main season.

If anyone's bothered (or reading back in the morning), this is the lineup:

Kepa

Chalobah
Silva (c)
Sarr

Kenedy
Gallagher
Barkley
Chilwell

Ziyech
Hudson-Odoi
Havertz

The positions Kenedy is getting into makes me think that Tuchel might have had wing-back plans for Raphinha...

Players you might have heard of watch: Guillermo Ochoa (subbed off after half an hour), Jonathan dos Santos.

Hopefully Barkley will be out the door before the season starts...good effort by Tiago

Probably right about Raphinia...I fear we are just going to see more of the same this season.  Pragmatic football and only attack in numbers on occasion and I'm not sure that's going to suit Sterling if TT plays how as a 9.  No one that plays CF under TT in this team rarely poses a threat because we don't get them the ball enough.

A good 45 min workout, rather this than just strolling around. CHO / Kai missing in action.  Kepa not really much to do but still IMO plays his team mates in trouble when he's trying to play out from the back.  Tiago putting in a performance; Kenedy and Gallagher look about the only ones that want to play the ball forward.  No doubt a different 11 for the 2nd half..

Definitely but Gallagher needs to show more if he wants to displace Kova/Mount/Kante/Jorgi

I'm pretty concerned going into the season with Kai as our attacking focal point.

I don't think it matters who plays as the focal point they aren't getting the ball.  TT wants to play safe and is never brave going forward.  Will be interesting to see who gets into the starting 11 and how he sets up...my fear that its going to be more of the same.  He said we want to be the team that no one wants to play against....probably because we will send them to sleep

Gallagher has been class, I think his return has gone under the radar with all the transfer talks and Broja/Colwill speculation, having him back is like signing a £40m+ player

I think he'll do well; unless the main midfielders are injured or out of form I think he knows he'll be sat on the bench but will get minutes now that there is 5 subs...assuming that TT even uses them.
