Gallagher will have to improve a in choosing the right pass. Palace played a lot deeper and could recover quicker defensively, our defensive line when going forward is nearer the half way line, lose the ball there and we have nothing behind us.

Not convinced his unconventional formation will get the best of out of Sterling especially with Kovacic and Jorginho behind him. Hell of a step down going from Bernardo Silva & De Bruyne to this. Well based on last nights efforts I'd let CHO go or loan him out so you'd end up with 4 wingers. All I saw was the same as last season, rarely took on anyone, rarely beat anyone, and the ball was played backwards more often than not. Friendly or not, it shows his mindset appears to be that he's afraid on taking on someone and losing the battle, whether that's because his confidence is shot from his last set of injuries I don't know, but to me he's not going to offer much this season so just as well cash in.

Didn't see the game, but our 'English centre-back' (© EsPN+) seems to have impressed TT https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/club-news/tuchel-says-versatile-21-year-old-may-have-found-his-best-position-in-chelsea-system/ I've been saying for a long while that Ampadu is our most overlooked loanee. He's been tremendous for Wales and is a major talent.
July 17, 20224 yr I fell asleep after 20 minutes but the thing I learned most from this game is Guillermo Ochoa actually plays club football.
July 17, 20224 yr Club America already fully match fit, and we playing our first game not really that much you can read into this game didn't see the game i would like to see some compilations of Ampadu, Kenedy & Gallagher Edited July 17, 20224 yr by azpi28

July 17, 20224 yr 1st half was everything wrong with the tactics condensed in 45min. Backpassing galore and no linkup play between anyone. 2nd half was 50% of things you want to see(minus the own goal) from the team. Gallagher is wasted in the pivot. His best football is when he plays like Steven Gerard. CHO is anonymous even against Club America. Maybe not sharp yet but I wanted to see more take ons even if they fail. This is preseason, mistakes don't matter but not trying to be aggressive is the worst thing you can do. Jorginho showed why we still need him. I may dislike it but he's our only midfield controller. Onwards and upwards!

It's incredible (and naive to the extreme) how quickly they've forgiven their players for last season and think they'll come good under Ten Hag. Their PR team are better than Arsenal's.
July 17, 20224 yr My favourite part of the game was when right before one of Club America's corner kicks the announcer at the stadium said "Tonight's corner kicks are brought to you by Universal Orlando".
July 17, 20224 yr On the contrary, thought I saw enough yesterday to suggest Gallagher could learn the Kante role.

With steerling (hopefully as winger) we probably will see more one on one action so it should be less boring. But in general, I don't expect much changes.
July 17, 20224 yr don't sell Alonso 1st half https://sbthe.com/b2po3oue6tj6.html 2nd half https://sbthe.com/73whw1aomw24.html

July 17, 20224 yr Still a bit concerned where the goals are going to come from in this team, Havertz isn’t exactly the most clinical of finishers and Timo is.. well Timo.

Last season we scored our 3rd highest number of goals in the PL era despite not having a stand our scorer. The trick with this squad is everyone's a striker, so to speak, Sarr out of all our regulars was the only one who didn't net atleast once.

July 18, 20224 yr Author Was at the game - good time, amazing stadium (I love SB, but it’s not a patch on modern stadiums), and the CA fans were superb. Played the drums for 90 mins non stop - not what we’re used to but love the culture in football. - We still miss 1-1s - Dave’s legs have sadly gone. It’s very evident - Attack is starved of service and struggles to self-create - Midfield lacks creativity and ability to drive thru lines (Kova best at this, Gallagher showed glimpses) - To me, it’s a limitation of the system. We compress the pitch and it’s a very lateral setup (pass, recycle, sideways or back). Has its strengths but forces a deep game What stood out to a biased fan! - Mason Mount (or as the giant screen announced after his goal, Mason Hunt) is a different class - Proud to see Mount, Reece, CHO, Gallagher and Chalobah all feature superb - Silva is sublime. He can still sprint well also Honestly without an alternate system I think we’ll be having many similar debates this coming season. KTBFFH

I watched some of our games last season to write an article on why we struggle offensively and it really comes down to our lack of creative player. We need at least two of mount, kova, james, Ziyech n cho to play and they need to play well otherwise our offense simply does not work at all.
