Chelsea in America (US Preseason Tour) 2022

Sterling has made some good attacking moves, carried the ball well a few times but he’s quite clearly not fully fit. Looks gassed. These 45 will be good for his fitness I think.

That was pretty rubbish even for a meaningless pre-season game. First half was a 5/10, second was a 3/10. The lack of pressing ( as in effort) was quite alarming, 2 MFs playing together for the first time obviously didnt help with keeping the possession, and defence is full of errors even they were young defenders. There are 3-4 players should never get anywhere near the first team, think Tuchel has seen enough. Sterling is good, but Havertz looked like he just came out of a long holiday and has zero training, no excuses for those poor touches.

Never enter a penalty shoot out with much confidence. Players lack conviction - let’s see what they do this time.

Given the history of our forward line over the last 18 months who would have any confidence, except the opposition..

Very average h2. Havertz barely touched the ball. Mount and Gallagher may be good players but they are useless midfield pivots in this system. Chalobah made lots of mistakes, Sarr was Sarr, not skillful enough.

Yeah, wasn't the best game in general.

Liked Ethans forward thinking when it comes to passing.

Sterling probably the only highlight this game. Kenedy played decent. often found the space on the wing.

Bit underwhelmed by gallagher this game as I really want him to succeed.

Charlotte scored 6/6 pens. That is also a skill.

- Chalobah showed why he’s a squad player at best.

- Colwill showed he’s no where near ready to start for us and needs to keep his ego in check.

- Sarr showed why he shouldn’t be at this club.

Our second half issues stemmed from the backline and midfield not being press resistant. Ampadu and Gallagher were woeful.

Saved 1 in the FA Cup final from Mane, but can't remember any others he's got close to.

Well he beat Egypt in the finals with penalties.
Not sure if he saved any or Egypte missed the target.
IT was also not for Chelsea, but Senegal.

did we lose?

Chelsea have a new website...   https://wecantwinonpenalties.com

Tuchel says 'we want to be the team that no one wants to play against' - well if that's the case we'd better buy some decent players or change your tactics mate, because right now I have every confidence that we will be struggling in the first half a dozen games of the season.

Sterling looked sharp. You can see once he gets in his full stride, he is going to be an absolute menace for the opposition this season.

But what is he going to do with the ball....if he passes to our forwards it will either be over the bar or passed back 20 yards in order to start passing it around the D for 5 minutes.

Maybe not so much Ampadu, but overall the defence and midfield were shocking in the 2nd half.  Yes its all mix and match at the moment probably why everything looks disjointed and muddled.  I'm sure things will settle down after the first 10 games of the season and we are 15 points behind City and Liverpool...after all this season is about maintaining a top 4 spot and getting closer to City and Liverpool.

TT needs to rethink this formation .. our 2 man midfield gets overrun.. our wingbacks who provide width are always up against it.. we are so pedestrian and have been for the longest time .. we play players out of position.. it looks like we have burried our head in the sand.. prime Messi would struggle with this current setup
