I wish the Amazon doc showed Arteta's dossier of Auba crimes but they didn't. So it just seems like he was late one time and got frozen out. Most managers just punish the player and he comes back in after a game or 2.

God I hope we do not pay actual money for him.
I mean IF we took him we would be doing them a favour taking his salary off their "salary mass".

Yes, "salary mass", it is all part of the Surrealistic Protocols of Barca. The fourth lever has been pulled. Kounde and Alonso? Not yet in. In order for Kounde and Alonso to be registered, Barcelona will need to free up 'salary mass'. They may have to pull the Fifth.

"The club is very positive," said Xavi. "We've just announced the fourth lever and we believe that tomorrow will be arranged. Maybe not 100%, but we'll see tomorrow."

Why would we pay money for Auba?  I mean they cannot afford to keep him.  He wants to stay there anyways.  I really do not want him.

Depay will free some salary mass. As for why we would pay for Auba its because he would make chelsea better. We would score more goals and win more games. Whether we hurt or hep Barca is almost completely irrelevant. Our sole objective is to make chelsea better

Auba would make Chelsea better?  No.

Next you'll be trying to convince yourself that Auba is as good as Haaland.

Auba is not good enough for Chelsea. . . .and paying that amount of money for him, would be awful business.

“awful business” when we are seriously lacking in the number 9 department, when our primary rivals have added world class strikers or already have a couple in hand, when Broja is not good enough to lead the line week in week out yet and  especially what we saw at Goodison last Saturday 🤦🏻

City Harland Vermin Nunez Spuds Richarilson Arse Jesus    Us nobody but let 2 go

As a stop gap measure Auba at somewhere in between both clubs valuation is a snip, club paid 18 for a slightly younger Giroud who was surplus to Arses requirements how did that “business” go ?

Unlike De Jong this one is an easy transfer. What Xavi says is club lines about Auba.

Barca will happily sell him and make money on a freebie, he will happily come back to London and team with TT and we will happily buy him, so long as we all find a price we are happy with.

Barca are demanding €25m for a 33yr old, we are willing to pay €12m, and Aubameyang wants a good financial compensation on his €288k/w wages.
Signing a 33yr old forward whose legs are gone on a 2yr deal on £240k/w is bad business, and shows the lack of long term plan.

Not saying I am a fan of the deal at all, bit TT is and apparently that is what matters to Todd.

Hopefully we just make it a straight swap for Alonso.

to be clear romano is not saying we will bid:

"Pierre Aubameyang deal. Chelsea will be in contact with Barcelona through intermediaries during the weekend to discuss conditions of deal, and then decide on first bid.  "

I think we will as TT spoke so glowingly about him. Hopefully the bid is Alonso for him, no cash.

Yes, Signing Auba - paying that transfer fee and paying those wages, would be the very definition of awful business.

As you say "City Harland Vermin Nunez Spuds Richarilson Arse Jesus    Us nobody but let 2 go " - so your answer is signing a player in a deal that reeks of desperation and panic buy.  Our rivals City and Liverpool would not be interested in signing Auba - because he is not good enough to play for them. Spurs have a better player in Kane. Arsenal would not be interested in re-signing a player that was such a disturbance and also they have a better player in Jesus.

Q. why would you want us to have such an expensive and inferior player?

Q. So should we over-pay for a player nobody else wants?

Auba's current club do not want him.  There is no other club in the world that wants him - any club that can afford those wages.

Who else is interested in signing Auba?  which club?  Who are we bidding against?  the simple answer is, nobody is interested in signing him, not for that fee and paying those wages!!?!?

So your answer is that we outbid all the other clubs that have zero interest in signing him?  That would truly be fcuckinfg awful business.

Dare I say we've actually done pretty well with Arsenal cast-offs in recent years. Fabregas and Giroud for example. Also that left back that got in the swap for Gallas 😉

In this awful business scenario we would not be signing a player from Arsenal. Auba plays for Barcelona. We would be giving money to Barcelona for a player that they do not want and a player that they cannot afford to keep.  They would have to be paying us to take him . . .and even then I wouldn't want him.

So apparently Barca are on the verge of letting Memphis Depay join Juve for Free, yet want us to pay 25mill for Auba who joined them 6 months ago, for Free. Jokers.

Who would bet against us doing it though.

Auba wants to stay at Barcelona. Which is great. He should. He should stay at Barcelona.

Barcelona want to sell him, in fact they NEED to sell him, or rather they need his wages removed from their wage bill.

Barcelona could offload him, perhaps to a Saudi club like Al Nassr in Riyad or to a Qatar-based club. Other than that there are very few clubs in the world able to afford his wages and all of those clubs have better options.

Auba to Chelsea is a great deal. . . for Barcelona.

Tuchel likes Auba, that is great nostalgia, I am sure he was a great player to manage, back when he was an above average player in Germany.

As a 'stop gap' for Chelsea's striker needs?  Meh. What would be the point?

Horrific price tag for a 33 year old, but all from a business point of view it makes more sense to have more of a chance of a top 4 objective, personally I'd rather play Broja amd wouldn't pay anything for Auba if anything get him on loan!

Boom. Bang on. Excellent post

I gave put elsewhere and I know it might provoke a few responses but I would focus my energies and money on getting Marcus Rashford and let Barcelona stew in their own juices.

Might be the only winger on the planet I rate less than our current bunch.

Rashford is a terrible footballer.  Didn't rate him when people were pretending he was a special talent.  Don't rate him now.

He's a less technically gifted and less intelligent Werner, can't dribble, can't shoot, can't play in tight spaces, can't pass, has terrible movement and is one of the laziest players in the country.

Unless we play exclusively on the counter Rashford would be utterly useless for us.
