While i'm not exactly enamored by this, how many "troublemakers" under Arteta have gone on to shine elsewhere?

Putting aside the conflict between Aubameyang and Arteta which sounded more like a personality clash, the player never really stopped scoring goals even then. His record has been very consistent, and his goals were a key reason behind Barcelona's strong recovery last season. I always thought he was a poor choice for captain at Arsenal and that seemed to lead to a lot of the issues.

Didn’t he go a run of 19 games at Arsenal without scoring before Arteta got fed up & binned him. We could end up fielding 6 over-30s in our 1st team, you won’t get away with that in the PL.

He went from better than 1 goal every 2 games to about 1 every 3. Seems like he had a major fallout with Arteta though and was dropped entirely in December. He managed 11 goals from 17 games after joining Barcelona.
August 10, 20223 yr I think it was more that Arsenal changed their playing style, Auba played on the shoulder of the defender looking for the threaded ball to break the defensive off-side and was a cut above most by making diagonal runs too. For me Arsenal were playing more posession in the opponents half sitting deep allowing Auba less space to open up the defence meaning Lacazatter was preferred playing through the defence. Similarly for me, like with Arsenal wonder how we would use him effectively.
August 10, 20223 yr Sky Sports are saying we have spoke to Barca and let them know we are interested in Auba and De Jong, have been allowed to speak to both players, which Todd and TT apparently have done, and have agreed to almost match Uniteds agreed fee for De Jong. Barca have not indicated if they want Auba to stay or leave after signing Lewa. They want De Jong to stay and have offered him a 6mill settlement on his deffered wages, which are worth 17mill, so long as he accepts a significantly wage pay cut.
August 10, 20223 yr Arteta wanted him gone, to that effect he began to document all his transgressions and rule breaking and handed this dossier into Edu to garner the club's 100% support in dealing with Auba. Like getting written up 3 times at work then the pink slip basically. He's not going to follow the typical dressing room bog standard rules basically anywhere he goes it seems. Club is now seriously desperate for a striker, and desperation breeds rumours like this.
August 10, 20223 yr Reported he is happy at Barca, however if the club ask him to go he won't dig his heels in and he has an excellent relationship with TT. Basically it sounds like if Barca decide to cut his wages then this has every chance of happening.

If so then I doubt Barcelona will also need to offload Aubameyang so I suspect he will stay there.

Other reports now have us making a a joint offer for De Jong and Auba, with Alonso included. 72mill for the pair, basically making Alonso and Auba as free swaps.
August 10, 20223 yr Aubameyang would be a flop here, the one name that reminds me of this kind of a transfer is Sarri going for Higuain in January after not knowing how to help out Hazard.

He was almost completely finished but he still knew the vague direction of the goal. He still had better than a 1 in 3 goal record in the league for us. (5 goals in 14 games and he was unfit when he signed) Pulisic, Ziyech and Havertz could only dream of having such prolific records for us When Pulisic, Havertz and Ziyech are all on the pitch together it feels like we as a club would be lucky to score 1 goal every 3 games Edited August 10, 20223 yr by HazardousChoice

August 10, 20223 yr Higuain was pretty good against teams that sat deep even when he didn't score, he was so clever with his movement in tight spaces it would open up avenue's for Hazard etc and his presence helped the Sarri games to be less "boring". However against teams that gave us space to exploit he was woeful and his lack of pace badly stuck out. All in all i'd have probably tried to extend his loan an extra year, especially in hindsight as we really struggled with the bus parkers in 19/20.

Our current attacking options are so bad they've actually got me reminiscing about Higuain Pulisic managed a similar rate of goals in his first season with us (under lamps). About 1 goal every 3 games. Since TT arrived his numbers have gone down to 1 goal in every 4-5 games, although that could just as easily be attributed to a loss of form since injuries rather than coaching. Havertz had his best return last season, with a similar rate to Higuain (about 1 goal every 3 games last season)

Werner was making some of those runs too but Higuain even while being past his best years had better finishing ability. Havertz sadly doesn't possess that kind of finishing either. August 10, 20223 yr Auba has so much more to offer than Higuain at the time they were being considered for Chelsea as to make the comparisons meaningless. Higuain was finished Auba is not.

Also Aubameyang's best 2 seasons in terms of goals were under Tuchel, so it is not too surprising if there is some interest there.
