So do you apparently.

Conte's first season here was perhaps the most impressive league campaign in our history. Played great football as well.

Until the 3 at the back tactic eventually got found out and put an end to that great football.

£108 million on Ziyech and Havertz would disagree. Though Thiago Silva Chilwell, Mendy were good buys. Werner was decent but not for those kind of wages.

There's a difference in mistakes to the ones overseen by Conte. Who only wanted players to fit his system

Havertz wasn't a bad buy, Ziyech you could argue wasn't too bad either. They fit in the mould of what we as a club would want to do for the next 4-5 years. Havertz not kicking on isn't on Lampard. But the players Lampard signed off on were players who could retain their value and were solving long term problems, not short term.

I thought Lampard was out of his depth, I don't think that on Potter (yet). But Lampard was a good manager for transfers.

@Mod @coco For some reason everytime I try to create a poll it never works. I keep getting an error message asking me to check the marked areas or something.

Nevertheless if someone would be so kind, I was looking to create a poll asking whether people think Potter would win us the league within the next 5 seasons? Based off what we've seen here so far and his past work. I also wanted to add another question asking whether people thought he could win us any silverware in general within the next 5 seasons.

If anyone thinks this would be worth it and knows how to do it, I would appreciate that.Personally I think seeing the percentages would be quite interesting, I wanted to have 3 options for both questions: yes, no and undecided.

If anyone puts up your poll Longtime, I'm going to vote ...... Yes.

Based on what?

And if I can ask you another question. How disappointed are you in Potter given that you wanted him at the club?

Conte got what he wanted. He just missed out on Sandro, who wouldn't have succeeded probably. But the profiles he wanted and the players he wanted out went.

Bakayoko, Morata, Drinkwater, Zappacosta Rudiger in. 200m euros. Matic and Diego Costa out.

This is a bit dishonest, he fought with D.Costa, before that they were fine and Conte was also against the sale of Matic which is very important for our context, but he wanted not only Alex Sandro but also Lukaku, Van Dijk, Bonucci and probably Alexis Sanchez and only him knows who else... He wanted too much either way and yes he did get some players that he was absolutely fine with at the time of their signings, e.g. he openly said that he believes that Morata had what it takes to lead the line.

With that said, it still a big question mark whether mr Potter can actually do something since after all said and done, he inherited a top 4 team and on top of that has gotten a huge investment that all other managers can only dream about. Conte with investment wins you trophies, can Potter do it?

He wasn't against the sale of Matic. He just acted like he was later.

Conte with investment wins you a good one maybe two seasons.

Potter with time might win us 5 years of success. That's what I'm after.

I looked up a Brighton forum to see what their thoughts on Potter were, it doesn’t make for pretty reading unfortunately. We even get a mention!

it was always about possession for the sake of it, lacked aggression. as you obversed earlier. Potter wasnt a bad manager, just a bit frustrating, we know we could play but sooo many draws against poorer teams.

Interesting reading "The Shed End" forum; endless moaning about Potter's team selection and tactics resulting in no goals. It sounds like us a year ago but with an extra dose of whining due to them having spent £500M on players since June...

The issue Potter is going to have when he's sacked off for Chelsea is people can see the job he did at Brighton was over rated, how much better do Brighton look now without him with the same squad?

Potter has a serious issue getting his teams to create and score consistently

Matt Law confirmed that Lampard also wanted to sell Joringho to Arsenal (who wanted him) and buy Declan Rice.

Can Bohley get Lampard in on the recruitment team?

At the time Jorginho was still a good player, especially for Tuchel's first year or so.

Well, it's all about opinions. But for me, Potter plus points.

Played attractive football at Brighton. I enjoyed watching them play most games I saw.

Seemed to have a close bond with his players.

Has a decent record at spotting talent.

Seems very calm and honest. A decent guy.

Never seen him throw players under the bus.

Has got shot of Jorginho.

Looks to be manoeuvring Aubameyang out the door.

Hasn't blinked to leave a recent big name, big money signing in Koulibaly out of the team for a much younger, lesser known player.

Seems to be focusing on bring in younger talent.

Hasn't moaned about the unreal injury list.

Wanted to be part of the 'project' and work with the new owners.

Prepared to give him time to get his feet under the table and work with a full squad before making any final judgement.

Crazy part is a lot of people thought Tuchel was too negative, so we hire this guy instead. At least we created chances under Tuchel, our forwards were just terrible.

Just to clarify when you ask will Potter win us a league in 5 seasons do you specifically mean the Premier league?

I'm sure with another couple hundred million once he takes us down we'd be able to make a fantastic run at the championship.

Thanks mate. Disagree with you but appreciate your reasoning.

By the way Sindre, just to reiterate my opinion on Tuchel's sacking. I would have given him until the World Cup to try and turn things around I felt he definitely deserved that much. But there is no doubting there were obviously real problems behind the scenes.

Not pretty reading, even their own fans, who have reasons to be grateful to Potter, don't rate the job he did there.

Definitly should have. But yeah, you were reasonable with him I feel.

If you create a normal thread with your poll question and answers i will edit it and make it a poll, not sure why yours doesn't work.

And yet, strangely, a lot of them were moaning and whining when he left them to join us. Wonder if there's any connection there?

Maybe but maybe not given they regularly booed him off the pitch when his Brighton team were playing their turgid football on some of their regular 2 month winless runs
