Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!

Nope. I would keep him. Good player. Leadership. There is a real anti-Fernandez vibe on these boards that you don't seem to get elsewhere tbh.

This forum is almost at Twitter levels of hate towards Enzo. Very few forums are even close to approaching the negativity towards him on here.

He’s far from being our main problem but if he wants to go then get him out.

I don’t see a position for him in any of Alonso’s favoured set ups anyway.

Beg to disagree - trying to shoehorn him into the side at all costs has cost us in defence and attack. Will be glad to see the back of him.

He'll probably end up staying simply because no-one will pay £100m for him.

His valuation by the club is funny, and i expect him and his agent to have a lot to say after the World Cup. If you stick a £120m fee on a player, then pay him the £300k/w market rate.

The problem with the valuation is as a “10” his numbers aren’t elite, and should be more a Rogers/Gibbs White £80m ball park. As a DLP, you are pricing him as a WC asset, which is a problem because he doesn’t play there at club level.

That's a respectful take: he can be a bit more difficult to fit given how he's evolved as a player. I personally prefer his former Argentina role to the more advanced one he has here.

The "he's a terrible footballer" opinions on here can't be taken seriously, in my opinion. They fly in the face of every objective measure of his quality, whether that's his market valuation or the value the club itself places on him.

It's the same everywhere else if you look far enough. Enzo is not a bad player, he just has severe weaknesses in the Premier League that makes it impossible to build around. He's too slow, not strong enough, struggles with the intensity, and is completely out of the game once we reach 60 minutes. There is NOTHING in his game that can make up for these issues. Fabregas was also slow and lacked intensity, but he had a god like pass in him that more than covered these issues. Enzo has nothing like this. He has box crashing and nothing else, you can't build a team around that.

The general consensus is just that he’s a pretty average footballer, on par with the likes of KDH with quirky hipster PR. Don’t get upset about imaginary scenarios, it’s not healthy.

You say he isn't terrible, then immediately compare him to KDH. That's basically the same argument with different wording.

Which forums? Only other one I know is TalkChelsea but that’s mainly casuals/kids/blue-tinted glasses types, and those types of international fans who just love everyone, types you see in the comment sections of the official Chelsea social media posts.

Leadership 🤣🤣

Yep, leadership. Enzo is a young lad trusted [again] to play behind Messi - the greatest player of all time maybe? Certainly in the top 3. Enzo is a world cup winner and looking to do it again. These are the facts of the situation. innit.

Guess which is Enzo and which is KDH. One finished 10th, the other 13th. I think the comparison is more than fair and its insulting to insinuate KDH is a terrible footballer.

Nope, the other 2 Chelsea fan forums Ive been on has the same thoughts on him, I'm amazed to see anyone claim he has good leadership qualities after seeing him completely disappear from pretty much every game where the going got tough.

He has one good quality, a box crasher to get goals, but the rest of his game is massively lacking with us, and the rest of his game is detrimental to our play consistently. He loses the ball far too often to be a controlling midfielder, hes too slow and weak to the recover that ball, so isnt an actual midfielder. He wants to play behind the striker, but is nowhere near creative enough to do that, and his shooting is way below the needed level too.

Literally nothing you listed shows leadership.

  • Young?

  • PLays with Messi?

  • World cup winner?

How do any of these point to great leadership?

To counter it to show why he isn't a leader:

  • Happy to racially abuse his own team mates on international duty.

  • Spent the last two transfer windows briefing the media that he wants to leave.

  • Constantly moans at his team mates on the pitch.

  • Goes missing for 90% of games and 'lead' the team to some of the worst league finishes in decades.

I understand you have a man crush, but lets look at the actual facts in front of us. Innit.

If he wants to leave that badly then let him leave.

Keeping a player that clearly doesn’t wanna be here is detrimental to us.

We should just strike a deal with Real Madrid, sell, and then we can work on a replacement.

The longer we delay the inevitable the more any decent players will be snapped up by other clubs.

He’s not worth risking a big part of the summer recruitment plans just to probably end up selling him late in the window anyway.

Fact no.1 - Captain of Chelsea FC
chosen to be Captain because he has experience and leadership

pretty obvious really

Yeah, we had a great season under his captainship.....

I don't think you can truly blame him for that.

The hatred for Enzo on these boards is a little odd. Opinions of Enzo amongst Chelsea fans IRL is positive in my experience.

Romano also reporting both clubs are working out a deal.

Reckon we could get close to getting our money back. MARCA were correct in that Enzo is Mourinho's preferred target.

Enzo Fernandez is a world class midfield player and it is only amongst the "experts" around here that his value is not recognised. I will be sad to see him go - although not devastated. lol.
