If you look at the rumours today it feels like our squad is far from being ready.

Our keeper-situation is open due to Bayern coming for Kepa, midfield is far from being settled, attacking situation is open due to injury and lack of wingers

Rumours:

Kepa to Bayern

Caicedo talks ongoing

Sterling to Bayern

Gallagher could leave

Broja is in WHU sights

We could basically field a starting 11 after the window is closed that consists of maybe 60% of the players we currently have.

All the talk about finishing top 4 are beginning to sound a bit fsr fetched.

Based on rumours. Why people take rumours to heart is beyond me.

If they circulate through Romano, you know/espect something is on. However many of the formerly mentioned are not. However there is a lot of talk around our squad and players.

Take them to heart or don't. I don't care. Just based of feeling we are not very close being done in terms of the squad.

To be fair if you don't base it on rumours we still have quite a bit of business to do.

Ziyech, Lukaku, CHO, Chalobah (If he's going), Sarr are all still on our books. We have 1 fit striker in Jackson, we don't have a natural player to sit alongside Enzo in a pivot. Our potential talisman in Nkunku is out until December so we now probably need a number 10.

So going into the first game of the season we potentially need to sell at most 5 - 6 players and also sign at least 3. It's going to be a hectic end to the window for us once again.

Problem at this time is very much the timing of this all. We kick Prem on in a few days and we don't have 3-4 players that are starting most of the games in the coming season. Caicedo or DM being the main concern. Today the concern is added with Kepa being heavily linked to Bayern on loan.

The job of assembling the squad was very hard in the first place so maybe we can't be too harsh.

Winning the title or making top 4 is looking so far off.

Sterling deserves the least amount of time.

People also said this about Pedro the season we signed him and we finished mid table. He went on to be a class player for us after that. People are writing Sterling off far too early, especially with how inexperienced the alternatives are.

Other teams are still fiddling around. Transfers are complex at the moment and  to state the obvious plans have to be shifted when stuff like Nkunku happens. We have a team that can play against Liverpool that more or less started against Dortmund and that team has been training for weeks. We have fixed the Wes Forana situation and in my opinion  Conor can do the holding midfield role for a game or two and Carney can do the No 10 role, but agreeing it's a step up. But taking steps up is what makes players great. The defence is good and solid now.

Yes we need more but the team we have will I hope at least be entertaining and probably be competitive most of the time. Well after a few games I'll probably be screaming for reinforcements but that's how I feel right now. No doubt the boys will go out there agains a Liverpool team that is also on the young side and get torn to pieces

It would not surprise me if Sterling is one of the first names on the team sheet for Pochettino, managers always rate him.

In days gone by.

Wasn't one of the first names on the team sheet for Pep.

Anyhoo Sunday should tell us. If he isn't up for it against that lot who will he be up for? The Scousers love to take the piss out of him.

If we had a fixed side and looking for 1-3 players, fine. We have made a complete overhaul which is incomplete. The situation between us and competition is very much different.

Started 70% of the games he was available for in his last season at City tbf.

He is pretty good with his stuff. I don't know what to tell you.

He's briefed by clubs like most of them are. Take the Vlahovic stuff for example as last night pretty much every journo to do with Chelsea tweeted the exact same thing at the same time and the italian media did the same and put their own spin on it. He's not undercover journo, he's literally a mouthpiece for clubs to drive transfers and narrative.

Who cares if they spew out the same stuff? I follow him and a couple of trustworthy journos so I keep up with things. Football rumours concerning Chelsea is good fun.

Many of the not so reputable ones just make up stuff. Avoid them and follow a couple good ones like Romano and you have an idea what is going on.

He’s quoted twice a day every day for months telling us Caicedo will sign for Chelsea immediately. Bored of him.

He did? He said it with those words? And I personally give him a ton of leeway as it is astonishing to me how anyone would/should know these deals are happening. Why and who are people leaking this stuff?

There's no problem if you follow that stuff, its likely everyone does.

I just meant that clubs are the ones who are feeding him and others the info to drive transfers. Just look at the whole Caicedo nonsense today, like you said it's all rumours at the end of the day.

My original point was our squad is far from being completed at a very late point. If we had 0 rumours we could well think it is Caicedo and no one else. Now the puzzle pieces are moving such as Kane to Bayern that could well do something with Vlahovic/Lukaku, Liverpool is short of midfielders, Tibo is out with ACL injury that could affect Kepa, Bayern wants him too, Adams could mean we are not in for Lavia or we are dropping Caicedo for Lavia. Ton of moving parts.

If you get tired of rumours, fine. I love there is Chelsea news every day. During the season it is other stuff. Mainly football. Now it is rumours.

Not tired of rumours just tired of how they are told and the celebrification of these twitter personalities. I am more of a Arry pulling up in his car and rolling down the car window man myself.

I would be annoyed by that. That German dude is heavily annoying. Romano isn't. If he was annoying I would hate to read his stuff. He loves to follow Chelsea as there is always something crazy going on. 😅
