So it's Pochettino...and now officially gone!

Featured Replies

Ok, I didn't know that Bettinelly is currently injured. I thought that they were giving the youngsters a chance (well, if being on the bench is a chance).

Pochettino wants a 22 man squad including goalies. This was published by Nizaar Kinsella. This is then under 2 players for one position as you need utility options. Now the squad is about 29 players.

A ton of work to be done.

We are adding Lavia, Olise and a goalie at least.

That is 32 players from where about 10 needs to go.

I think it probably boils down to this

3 GK:  Sanchez, Bettinelli, Bergstrom

9 DEF : James, Gusto, Chilwell, 1 out of Cucurella/Hall/Maatsen, Thiago Silva, Disasi, Colwill , Badiashile, Fofana

4 MID: Fernandez, Caicedo, Lavia, Santos or Ugochukwu

2 CAM: Chukwuemeka, Nkunku

4 Wingers: Sterling, Mudryk, Madueke, Olise (also cover for CAM)

3 CFs: Jackson, Broja, Burstow

Out of squad: 2 from Cucurella/Hall/Maatsen ; 1 from Santos or Ugochukwu ; Lukaku ; Ziyech ; CHO ; Sarr ; Chalobah ; Gallagher

Possible also that we sign other players in place of Bergstrom and Burstow, in which case they are also out of the first team picture for now.

If we are building a side that can actually compete, we can't stick with Bergstrom or Burstow.

We are probably looking for a quality GK.

Yes agreed.

"Eat the elephant piece by piece" as they say ... Clearlake seem to have set about their elephant with a shoal of piranhas mind you, though not sure even they have quite the appetite to finish the entire carcass by the beginning of September 🙂

Let's get the quote right.

Think that’s likely but leaves us very light at CF, Barstow doesn’t yet belong in this group and Broja really is a long way behind Jackson. So I could still see another cf.

Yes I certainly hope so !

You had a good go but I`ve corrected it.

Wil the players be changing in the corridors again? Seems like we still have a massive squad, especially if we add these players we are still linked with.

This is my greatest worry, where are the goals coming from,I was ok when Nkunku was fit but now I feel we're in trouble.

With the way the market is I think we stick with Broja and assess in January.

James and Chilwell if they stay fit (big if I grant) around 7 between them.

Centre back between them 5.

Lavia and Caicedo, 1 each.

Enzo, I'd like to think around 5, law of averages some of those long rangers that just missed will surely start going in.

Gallagher (if he stays) 5

Sterling 10

Jackson 10

Mudryk 5

Madueke 5

Olise 3

Penalties and own goals 7

Everyone else 5-10

Probably not enough to win the league but should keep us competitive especially if we remain solid at the back.

All this talk of goals by player, but I say if we play the correct way, in the correct system, the goals will come.

Was it really a coincidence that for the past 4-5 years every player we had here missed about 5-6 chances for every goal? I find that too hard to believe. I think if we keep playing well in this new style, opening teams up on the break, the goals will come no matter who it is.

Maybe so, but he might budge a bit to 24 man squad considering current injuries.

If Broja is back to 100% fitness, and with Enzo, Olise and co to feed him, I believe he can get 20 goals.

You need to watch Kai playing for Arsenal.

I don't doubt there are certain individuals that can't finish their dinner.

Havertz, however, did bag a lot of goals before he came over, so he might score more given the position he's playing in. Still, I'm banking on him to flop like he did here.

But I'm talking as a collective, as a collective our team has been piss poor in front of goal for years now, since Lampard first took the helm I've noticed it. I think a lot of it stems from our slow paced walking the ball into the goal style of football we've been persisting with for years. Now is a time for a change-up, we don't need Jackson to bag 30 goals a season if every other player is chipping in.

I think the goals will come.

The only time I ever feared playing Tottenham was when he managed them, other than that, I've always been confident in us getting a result against them.

Same. I was always worried when we played them because of him, not any of their players, him alone. Not sure he's going to take us to elite but I don't think we've ever been elite and he can certainly be one of the most successful managers we've ever had imo. He took Spurs to a 2nd place finish and f**kin CL final for god's sake.

Anyone is free to believe what they want but if you want others to share that belief it would be nice to provide some evidence or at least explain that belief. In the premier league he has 7 goals in 45 appearances. In the Redivisie a more creditable 10 goals in 30 appearances. He is only 21 so no doubt improving   Transfermarkt values him at 28 m. I don’t see what there is in history or when I saw him at Southampton to suggest 20 a season

Not looking to make others share my belief Oz. Argo put forward a list, I added my belief in Broja to it. Just a gut feeling.

Cheers mate. You might be right. Don’t think the club can rely on Nroka turning out to be a top talent.

Can we score more goal or at least create more chances if we play more expansive? I think the answer is obviously yes. It is just basic math, you give player more chances to create/score then they will create/score.

However there is no such thing as just sort the system and you suddenly will be clinical. Clinical finisher is clinical finisher. Ball striking and ability to get shot are skill. We saw what happen to Kai and timo. I am actually more suprised when they score than when they miss. I think all Chelsea fans want our chances to fall to Alonso/Chilwell/James 😂😂
