So it's Pochettino...and now officially gone!

After his issues with Levy not investing I wonder what Pochettino is now thinking with his first choice midfield targets lining up for PSG and Liverpool rather than his side?

Moises hasn't signed for Liverpool yet

Soon Mod, soon.

I wonder what his reaction will be. First Nkunku injured now this. All you can do is laugh lol.

Have to feel it for Poch, his two DM first choice targets taken by PSG and Liverpool. He had asked for Caicedo during pre season and looked set to at least have him before the first game of the season. Now he must prepare to face one of them in the first game of the season 2 days before the match.

I've said Poch will do well, but especially if the board back him, already they've let him down twice. They need to do better. If the plan now is to sign Lavia amd the A**x player do it today do not mess about!

Embarrassing that we still have Lukaku in the club and couldn't sign Caicedo within 3 months but Liverpool do it in 24 hours. These owners need to learn two things one don't provoke other clubs like they did with that Lavia bid if you're not willing for them to retaliate. Secondly if you want a player you pay what the "selling club" wants you don't haggle for 3 months otherwise you leave yourself exposed to exactly this scenario.

You have to feel Brighton see us as mugs, they've pulled our pants down repeatedly why would this be any different.

Poch seemed in a good mood in the presser, very at ease, laughing, cracking jokes.

Maybe reading too much into things but it's nice to see him in good spirits going into the season.

Can't be true. I was told if you don't get it all your way in the market you don't have to the job you're paid to do and can act like a d**khead for months.

Only if you are called conte!!

Great performance from the boys IMO, and well done Poch!

A very young team, almost a brand new team, with crucial injuries, and they were the better side against Liverpool. I think they should be proud.

I don't have huge expectations this season, certainly not a top 4 finish. I actually expected a loss, so for me, I'm happy with that performance.

But I think it's EVIDENT that we need a DM, chasing Caicedo better be worth it.

In terms of challenging for titles there will rightly remain question marks until he proves he can do it (outside a PSG) but he's a genuine 10/10 appointment for where we're at currently.

He will be vocal about transfers if he needs too but at the same time won't act like a 12 year old and still get on with the job he's paid to do. Imagine Mourinho and especially Conte's behaviour if they only had one natural CM avaliable for a Liverpool clash.

He is also the best manager around who will also play and trust in young players, which is what we need right now. How many top managers would start Colwill so soon and bring on Maatsen with a big six clash still in a lot of jeopardy?

He seems to have evolved tactically too, one of my biggest critisisms with him at Spurs is that he looked borderline clueless in turning the tide of a match in/back in his teams favour when things spiralled against them but he did exactly that today.

I've shown Poch a lot of love and I've always rated him as a manager, but even I don't know if he's the man to win us titles.

But as of now, I'm fine with that, because he's perfect for the time being. I couldn't think of a better man right now to start a project with, and even if the wheels start coming off at some point and we're falling short, I do believe and hope his appointment will have great impact on our future. He's the one to build the foundations, because this team has needed a massive overhaul for years.

As good as the likes of Conte's, Tuchels, and Mourinho's are, it would just be the same thing again, great season, then combustion, rinse, repeat.

A positive start, we look a team that can be competitive against top opposition. Question remains if we can put so-called 'lesser opposition' to the sword. If we can get the defence right I feel we could have a good season, Newcastle last year would be good benchmark.

Yep, if there's one good thing to come out of that freak Pep being in this league is that the temptation to abandon sustainable planning for a quick title like we did under Mou 2.0 is pretty much off the table.

I am a bit hesitant to put Tuchel in the same bracket as Conte/Jose in the quick fix regard though tbh, I felt the only thing that stopped him being able to be a medium/long term manager here was his record in the market (it's a huge issue for him, far too much sample size to be disputed otherwise at this point). I genuinely believed him when he implied he was trying to reign in his more 'toxic' side and I feel he would have without the sanctions/divorce stress but I guess we'll never truly know now.

The performance was decent, but we are always decent against Liverpool under any manager. We should have beaten them 6 times in a row at this point, so I won't get carried away. The best part was the energy levels, the month with Pochettino has clearly helped them in that area and it's the part of our game that needed the biggest improvement. The next part is turning dominant periods of football into goals.

It's still very much work in progress, but unlike last season at least I could sense where we want to get to, rather than make it up as we go in many of the games last season. It will be a complete different game against a team parked deep and play counter and set pieces like West Ham next time. I'm cautiously optimistic about Poch and the team, but expect a few bumps and bruises along the way.
