Lets see how Maresca gets on reinventing his tactics to work with the players he has. I mean, in this page alone we have members suggesting we won't be any worse with a youth player or even Robert Sanchez up front. 😂 "He won't be missed." Like I said, famous last words from some. We've not once looked like a decent functing side when Jackson wasn't on the pitch so its quite funny to think Maresca can all of a sudden make us play better without him when the evidence suggests the opposite.

He is handed goals on a plate... Constantly. Also never there when the ball goes across the penalty area, yes, one enthusiastic youth player won't do any worse. He hardly touches the ball a lot of the games, we really do forget he is playing Edited February 13, 20251 yr by guddy69

So since a GK and any youth player can't do any worse, I'm expecting us to still finish Top 4 and create as many chances as we do considering we've been in the Top 4 the majority of the season, and created chances at a canter with Jackson leading the line.

Top 4 is minimum requirement and we have to win 50% of our remaining games or questions will be raised at certain members of this thread.

Well if he can't, that would suggest that Maresca is not the right man for the job - which many of us suspected in the first place.

February 13, 20251 yr While his contributions divide opinion and his form has been poor, this will have significant impact. Squad is too lean and not enough output from those that are available. We could switch to a 4-3-3 to help - oh wait, we don't have enough midfielders either. What a circus.
February 13, 20251 yr This is bad news for us. Only positive spin I can make is that it should be a sink or swim moment for Maresca. With no recognised striker available (Nkunku is a 10) he will need to adapt now. Our form has been poor for 2+ months now, he needs to find a way to grind out results else we'll be in free-fall til Nico is fit again.
February 13, 20251 yr 4 hours ago, Nibs said: Lets be honest, the way he has been playing the last 2-3 Months, Jackson is no big miss. Most of us wanted him dropped anyway. Dropped for who? Some of you sound as if we have Kane and Haaland on the bench desperate to come on, but we literally have nobody, not even an 19-year old Guiu who's also out injured. Let's be honest, we're f**ked. Even with Jackson available top four finish would be difficult to achieve given the competition for CL qualification and our poor recent form, now it's official that it's not going to happen. What a mess.

Get him out of our club....and asap With Maresca failing to do the necessary and drop him - this twist of fate has given us a sluggers chance of making top 4 - something we have not looked like doing with wacko in the team over the past 2 months Edited February 13, 20251 yr by nonotnowjim

Then we will be ok again, or as crap as we have been these last two months (with Nico playing)

February 13, 20251 yr The next half dozen games will either prove Jackson is more valuable than most people gave him credit for, or we don't really need him. Either way, there are positives in it 😅 If I was Maresca, I would work on Nkunku, get his mind back on the job and start delivering.

Apologies, maybe I misworded that. I worry Nico's injury will be used as an excuse when we inevitably struggle without a striker. We've obviously been dire for months regardless of personel, but if he doesn't adapt things now I fear it'll be even more turgid.
February 17, 20251 yr Dear Almighty Creator of the Universe, dear Zeus, Odin, Loki, Ra, Shiva, Ganesha, Thor, Aphrodite, Poseidon, Hera, Tlaloc, Quetzalcoatl, Apollo, Brahma, Hestia, Vishnu, Gaia, and every other deity whose name has slipped my mortal mind: please lend an ear to my heartfelt prayer. Despite what some people on this forum allege, I’ve been a generally good boy. With that out of the way, it has come to my attention that Nicolas Jackson might be a transfer target for Atlético Madrid. As someone whose sofa-based football wisdom is recognised only by the family dog, I humbly beg you to make this transfer happen. If it takes chanting “Nico, Nico, Nico” a thousand times while hopping on one foot, I’ll do it. If you need me to vow never to desecrate leftover pizza again, consider it done. Just -oh cosmic powers - make the rumour reality, and let Jackson find his new home in Madrid. I promise to keep the sacrifices coming: I’ll leave out the last slice of cake for the blessings of sweet indulgence, and I’ll even resist the urge to mooch off my friend’s Netflix password (most of the time). I’ll sing daily odes to your magnificence in the shower (not well, mind you, but they’ll be heartfelt). Let the grand exodus begin, let the contract be signed, and let Chelsea wave him adiós with minimal fuss. Should this grand cosmic alignment take place, I swear to remain eternally grateful. You have my devotion, my shameless begging, and my solemn vow that I’ll keep being a good boy (or at least a fairly decent one). Yours in anxious anticipation and unwavering faith, A Chelsea Fan Who’ll Do Almost Anything for this Transfer. Brilliant summation. sh*t with Jackson as our centre-forward and sh*t without Jackson as our centre-forward. Expressed as a mathematical equation it's: sh*t + sh*t = sh*t
