October 8, 20232 yr Bring this on! Annoying that they won against City as their fans will be smug for 2 weeks about beating the best team in Europe. Let's be the first team to beat them this season and bring back to earth. It is also about time we beat them too! We both will have players travelling to different parts of the world but we are at home. Looking forward to it and more optimistic about getting a result compared to last season.

October 8, 20232 yr Horrible game time though. After the shot in the arm they got today, i'd probably be happy with a point from this one. Go into Brentford unbeaten in three is still a decent developing run.
October 8, 20232 yr I think this will be Poch's statement game, hopefully Enzo, Caicedo etc don't have to the around the world trip in the next 10 days. Arsenal will get all the praises and thumb ups for beating City. The way I see it is not a matter of how good Arsenal was, just City wasn't at the game at all. To be honest, if you just won everything, your intensity and hunger bound to drop for a while. They got City on a good week. If we play next weekend without the international break rubbish, we can match up and beat them. Edited October 8, 20232 yr by icecoolguy22

Argentina second match kicks off at 2AM UK time in Peru Wednesday morning. Ecuador second match is at home to Columbia, kicking off 12:30AM Wednesday morning UK time. Means both likely won't train till Friday morning before this game the next day. Add that to jet lag and they won't be 100% for this game. So Pochettino will have to decide how physically and mentally ready they are for Arsenals high press. Edited October 9, 20232 yr by axman2526
October 9, 20232 yr Arsenal will be super focused for this imo. They finally beat city, Arteta will be drilling it into their heads don't let this slip, don't let this momentum go against a Chelsea side in transition that they usually beat even when we are settled. Pochettino has a massive task getting us to beat them. If he can maybe he is magic after all.
October 9, 20232 yr Got a feeling we're going to give them a game here. I think the opportunity to make a statement suits our team rather than the expectation to preform, which has been the way against the lower teams so far this year. I really think the Caicedo, Enzo, Gallagher midfield causes problems for most in the league, especially the top 6 that will want to play through them. It's going to be on how clinical the front 3 can be. I also think our win against Burnley is more ** than their win against City. They've had our number a bit over the last few years, they'd have been dialled in and confident regardless. Would have been a worry to face them whilst also trying to pick up the pieces after another false dawn, but there's a bit of momentum to ride now. Can't demand a win, but we should be looking for a draw minimum at home.
October 9, 20232 yr If Zinchenko wants to invert I think Palmer could have a lot of joy finding space on the right

October 9, 20232 yr You'd expect both Lesley and Carney to come off the bench as well if they are knackered.

Last round of international matches saw Enzo able to return to training with us Thursday evening and Moises Friday morning. Maybe that is reversed this time. Is not Peru a higher altitude country? That would require extra rest time for Enzo.
October 9, 20232 yr They both will likely still start but with Carney back it gives Poch options alongside Lesley.

Aye, the concern would be Pochettino puts Enzo in the 10 if he is not 100% fit, which detracts from his game. We need Gallagher right on Declan Rice, haressing him to try and stop Arsenal ticking over. Also need Moises to be shutting down Odeguard.

Jesus, Gabriel, and Martinelli will too suffer the same fatigue. Trossard is out and Saka still a question over match sharpness.

Trossard and Saka have withdrawn from their national teams. Is Martinelli in the Argentina squad? He only came back on the weekend after several weeks out. Given Moises has had knee issues and Enzo is obviously tired just as Saka is could do with them taking this time off to rest, as Saka has done.

Looks like Saliba too wasn't called up for France.
October 9, 20232 yr leArse outsmarted City yesterday. do not expect the same tactics against us. they could embarrassed us on a fine day. as axman says, let's hope for some Poch's magic, he 'unlocked' some players at spuds

October 10, 20232 yr Just can't see Fernandez & Caicedo performing after the international break. James never plays well after an extended period out either and can't see him being risked from the off. I'd go with Gusto.
