Oooh, nice...I completely forgot to play this game with my kid. Was going to print out all the names and guess the squad. Lol Also no need to add under 21s to the squad unless using them for the homegrown numbers.

We also have a rough idea it won't be more than 21-22 senior players if going by what maresca said, I think. That's what makes it a fun game. Lots of subtle hints only and trying to ignore media rubbish. 😆 Oooh. Our own short version of fantasy football that ends at midnight on transfer window shut day. Apparently Robert Sanchez is homegrown too. Or judging by his lapses in concentration perhaps they meant that he smokes homegrown?

August 22, 20241 yr I don't think the whole French players vs Enzo issue is settled. Can make a case that Badiashile and Disasi are naturally rubbish but neither Gusto and Nkunku look interested in putting a shift in.

I am putting it out there that I know he was great last year and we know that he is quality but I think Gusto has been pretty woeful whenever I have seen him. In fact his best performance for me under EM was actually as an inverting LB. So far for me three of our most ineffectual players are actually three of our best players, in Palmer, Nkunku, and Gusto, all because this manager refuses to play a formation that suits their game the best. This can be acceptable if the formation we go with brings out the best in other players within that system. I'm yet to see any players flourish other than Lavia who in fact is playing in a role that is pretty universal within any formation

That just destroys all the on pitch relationships and cohesion between players and requires a whole lot of re-learning. Compound it with a new manager and a new style, Enzo Fernandez's utter stupidity and the contempt the French players probably all still have for him as a result, and we are reaping what has been sown unfortunately ... Maresca has a hell of a job on his hands. The one thing in his favour right now is that only James is injured, so our bench at least has some options to help change games. This time last year we had Bergstrom, Beach, Moreira, Humphreys and Burstow on it 🙂

August 23, 20241 yr So, there are many reports of booing the team at half time, last night. This is game 2. AND we won. With a clean sheet. And I honestly feel that we should be getting behind our team at this stage. We have a young team and despite what that scouse c*** Jamie Carragher says we are an exciting team. We have some amazing players. We have the English YPOY fer fcucks sake. The media is clearly already out to get us - more than usual. Already. OF course i have reservations about Maresca and the style of play etc. Not to mention some serious reservations about the 'owners'. BUT we gotta get behind these young players and this young dynamic team. There is a lot to enjoy about watching the youngest top level team. The youngest team/squad. That is exciting. That is potential. This could be a really fun season and yet the media is already making us feel like we are bunch of Millwall fans and no one likes us. We need to get a grip and support our team. I am really not down with booing a team - and not at this point.

Exciting? we had a corner in the second half and it went back to the keeper not only that, they had enough chances to have won the game

Agreed and that is my point. Our three most ineffectual players so far have not been due to any lack of form on their part. The unfamiliar roles that they have been put into appear to be having a direct impact on their effectiveness. If it continues it may be a problem as it has undermined us so far because nobody else yet seems to have shone in this formation, save for possible Lavia and Madueke.

Exciting. Yep. We are potentially a very exciting team. Maybe not on that showing. That was one game. Too early to get your knickers in a twist. Young player of the year - Palmer. etc,. We have some great young players. have you tried breathing exercises?

Can't say i could hear any booing on the stream but i wouldn't hold it against the fans if we were. 0-0 at half time and matched by a team that the majority of us have never heard of. It was pretty embarrassing. We should have been setting a statement last night and instead relied on a penalty and a sub nicking a goal against tired legs. Last night should have been 3-0 at half time.

When I am seeing Kovacic, Doku, and Silva destroying their lungs for 90mins against us whilst Enzo, Nkunku and Caicedo are jogging, it's music to my ears to hear this. Hopefully we keep are depth healthy so there is always competition for spots.

August 23, 20241 yr Considering we recently sold the best disciplined and highest work ethic based player we have had in years it strikes me as bizarre that he keeps drilling this philosophy every time he does an interview.
