So he was throwing a strop to get out of his contract to get the city job. That was his plan all along granted and the clowns in charge got played like a fiddle by Maresca.

Oh no it's possibly way worse

It's clear the club knew all along he was talking, they gave their consent. That limits how much, if any, compensation we are entitled to

At least we can unanimously agree Maresca sabotaged our season now and he can officially go down as one of the most dislikable managers in our recent history.

Definitely.

The plus side is, be great to get some compensation for this Championship level coach. City pay us whatever and then will get rid of him when they don't win anything and they come to realise his football is the dullest ever witnessed.

Happy Days.

I don't care much for Maresca's coaching but it seems rather OTT to blame him for sabotaging the season when we had Eghbali, Stewart, Winstanley, Shields et al making poor signings in the summer (on top of previous poor signings), refusing to strengthen in January, and then hiring the likes of Rosenior and McFarlane to replace Maresca.

Even more reason to dispise the man... Cant wait to see city go backwards under him next season and Haarland to get his agent looking for another club.

The football was terrible under Maresca, while 1 or 2 players may have liked him the rest looked dis interested and as bored as the rest of us. I doubt the run of results we were in when he went had anything to do with city talks.

Any compensation would be a bonus.

City are in for a shocker and Haalands goals will dry up.

Going to be very awkward if he does well at City.

I give it until December for City fans to start complaining about the boring clown football

City fans have been used to boring football for years. Only recently has Pep mixed up his possession focused tactics to add a bit more direct play to compliment Haaland. The winning will obviously paper over the lack of entertainment but once Enzo removes that yeah I think they will start to complain. Enzo is a Pep pupil so it's not like they arent used to it.

If you've ever been to the Etihad you will have noticed the games are like funeral processions and you can have a nice conversation with the person sitting next to you during the game. Maybe they like it this way?

I wonder with Bernardo going whether they think this season will be treading water until they can get back in a big name.

My question is why aren't we reporting City to the Premier League for what is a clear case of tapping up? I said all along that Maresca would stop being Blue Co's yes man the moment a better offer came up, and that happened around Christmas time when he decided to come out with his "worst 48 hours at the club" comment. He was approached by City, obviously liked the offer they made him, then he stopped playing yes man and started going against the board in an attempt to get the sack. That wasn't going to happen, so he walked, and City are trying to worm their way out of it by offering us compensation as a way to avoid getting reported to the Premier League.

If our owners had anything about them, they would tell City to f**k off and just report them to the Premier League.

Seems that the compensation is €20m

Wow £20M for what exactly?

That's like having a clapped out old banger written off and Insurers somehow paying out 10 times more than what it was worth.

come Xmas and City will be demanding a refund of that 20 million. We should start talking to Haarland now... Maresca's got a summer of planning to turn him into a genric carthorse and coach the goals out of the city side.

It seems that his contract tied him in knots should he be approached ( tapped up ) without the clubs authority and one of the reasons why the relationship broke down around Christmas last because he met with City on two or three occasions without the clubs authority.

Meresca reported the meetings . I would guess that he hoped the club would sack him but they didn’t and Meresca subsequently resigned.

The suggestion is that the club were looking to recover the money paid to Leicester and whilst tapping up is unlikely to be pursued it put Chelsea in a very strong position when numbers were discussed.

Getting a single penny for this absolute drain on the beautiful game is having City’s pants down.

As much as I blame Pep for destroying the modern game with his brand of football resulting in the following piss poor imitations by every single coach on the planet.

City played some fantastic football, they’re in for such a rude awakening.

Baldy will be sacked by Christmas and replacing Russell Martin by March.

The 2nd worst manager we have had in my lifetime.

How much will it cost to buy him out of his Leicester contract?
