Given he came out and admitted the whole "Trev cannot play on his system" line was a lie and he played along for  PSR rules for one I think it damages our ability to trust easy he says and for another that was next level of being a Yes Man the ownership forced him in to, which is disgraceful and makes him look a right puppet.

Where has he "came out and admitted" this?

I've never seen the word "woke" used to describe a football statistical analysis.

When it is commonly used as in say,  "woke lefty " it just a nonsensical slur or insult, devoid of any real meaning.

Sorry to come across as a woke lefty mate!😂

I'll be honest i couldn't care less about peoples political opinion. I judge people on how they treat me, not what they think on a political level.

Perhaps its an age gap thing. Its incredibly common on social media when someone discusses the modern statistics in the game (xG, post shotxG, inverted full backs) and anything that wasn't commonplace in the noughties to be referred to as utter woke nonsense, along with the Sean Dyche meme.

I find it strange so many people have got upset about it. Especially when it wasn't even directed at anyone in the original post and was quite clearly in reference to the stats i was using.

I've posted an article below so people can catch up on the etymology:

"The reason why he left at the beginning of the season, it was more to do with these kinds of problems, financial, these kinds of things," Maresca told reporters.

"It was not only a technical decision. We are sure he can help us now."

"Not ONLY a technical decision"

So if it was a technical decision, why is he now back being our best CB? Its quite obvious it was purely a financial decision from above.

If not then its pure incompetence by someone in a management position.

Cheers. Well, it does say the word " woke" is not used seriously in football discussions, it's just ironic or used as an insult.

Maybe it is a generational thing, . Thanks.

I think they saw it as Colwill, Fofana, and Tosin as 1,2,3 with Disasi, Badi and Trev battling for 4/5. Of the three not in the main rotation, only one was sellable.

Three of the 4 they deemed ahead of him are injured, and to be fair, he improved more with the loan than he would have by sitting here.

Isn't this a good use of loan? Yes they should have treated him better, but having a player of his caliber on loan to pull back when other CB's get hurt is the exact opposite of managerial incompetence.

Exactly. Of all the defenders, Chalobah presented the owners with an opportunity for pure profit given that he was a product of the academy.  For that reason I still reckon they will try to sell him in the summer. He is back now purely because we have so many first team CB's out injured.

Trev is better than Tosin and Fofana has never been fit for Chelsea. If that's the case, its just more incompetence.

Quite crazy how he feels we are well covered in midfield while only mentioning Caicedo, Enzo and KDH. I know Lavia is around but he cant be trusted regarding his fitness so its feels rather insane why the club isn’t addressing this

He's just doubling down on the strategy to big up Fernandez at every opportunity. Club featured him as the model for some god awful "Snake" shirt/top today. Sold out quickly, so he does sell shirts, even if he doesn't quite provide what we need in midfield (really don't see the marketing appeal myself, but I am for sure not their target market LOL)

I suppose we technically still have Casadei too lol

I imagine the shirt selling out has more to do with the design than the model.

Yeah, but we’re lacking numbers so bad, cant believe they cant see that

For all those calling out maresca for not changing things, this is the current composition of our 1st team squad by their actual proper position.

2 keepers (Sanchez, Jorgensen)

2 right backs (James, Gusto)

1 left back (Cucurella)

6 centre backs (Fofana, Colwill, Baddieshile, Disasi, Acheampong, Chalobah)

3 centre mids (Caicedo, Lavia, Enzo)

4 wingers (Neto, Sancho, Madueke, George)

4 attacking midfielders (nkunku, Palmer, Felix, KDH)

1 striker (Jackson)

Ah come on if you are going to make a list like this, and I suport why you are doing it as it shows a lack of proper planning by our SDs, don't forget our long standing 3rd choice Marcus Bettinelli!

Marc Guiu is also technically part of the first team squad.

Has Veiga officially gone now?

Forgot about Guiu.

Cannot say I like the way he chose to defend Sanchez.

Just come out and say something like "We have complete trust in Robert, he is our number 1, mistakes happen its part of the game bit we trust in his quality" etc.

Don't go digging out other players to make Sanchez look better.

Even more so he makes himself look clueless by saying Sanchez has only made 4 mistakes. If he is pointing out the "many times" Caicedo has misplaced a pass how many times has Sanchez passed straight to the opposition or straight out of play?

Not gonna lie, he's starting to grate on me, and that's without taking into consideration the dog sh*t results over the past 6 weeks

Same here! The presser today annoyed me! That is a perfect example if you ever want to see a yes-man in full flow! The thing is, it goes deeper than Enzo! We all know by now that it's just yes-men managers they employ and we'll never get a top-proven manager due to that! Even Poch had enough after a season of playing a puppet!

Careful, could almost be taken with you perhaps agreeing with me....

Imagine spending 330m on midfielders and midfielder is still a need
