Chelsea v Manchester City, (pre-season), Sat 3rd Aug 24, 2245 GMT

We’ve caused our own problems here and haven’t looked great but it is fantastic how reactionary people can be in this place 😂😂

Sure, it’s worth raising questions about the performance levels and the suitability of the play style based on existing evidence. But let’s not go writing off signings and seasons based off of a fairly even first half, which happened to start off with 5 minutes of sh*te

Then maybe we should stop signing players that are so noticeably poor and such a massive downgrade on what we had before. Koulibaly, Badiashile, Cucurella, Disasi, Fofana, none of them can actually defend, Tosin looks a similar type of player. Gusto is the only defender they have signed that is good, and it's the attacking part of his game that is the impressive part.

I'm just saying give the lad at least a few actual games, the speed at people wanting to write off new signings is astounding. 10 years ago you'd all have laughed at such scrutiny on new players and new tactics in pre-season, now fans can't write players off quick enough.

I just don't get Enzo - he doesn't get enough goals or assists to make up for his lack of pace. He's like a pound shop Fabregas. Hope we swap him with Nkunku and bring on Guiu.

Hopefully Maresca will say Enzo can't justify playing #10 because he's sh*te and can't hit a barn door. Connor twice the player.

It's hardly reactionary when we haven't seen a good Chelsea defence in years now.

Apart from the sh*t first 5 minutes it's been a pretty even game, but as previously mentioned some of the players playing out of position isn't working.

Half the team is playing out of position ... Poch would have been crucified for that by now LOL.

Starting to wonder if Maresca is trying to be too "clever" for his own good ...

Fofana was a risky signing because of his injury issues, and we've barely seen him play. Not sure he will ever return to the level he was at before injuries. Harsh on Cucurella who has improved after a terrible first season.

The start was just a joke, so not going to comment further on that.

Having Lavia, Caicedo, Enzo and KDH all on at the same time and sacrificing a winger does not look like a good idea. Makes us slow on the transition. Should ideally only be 2 of them at the same time with a real left winger, Nkunku in the 10 and Gusto inverting.

Mudryk not looking good on the right. Usually doesn’t when having to run at the opposition. He’s better at running in behind.

It's not harsh on Cucurella, because defensively, he's still a disaster.

It is reactionary, we’re 3 and a half games into pre season. We’ve looked sh*t in places, we’ve looked good in places.

We haven’t seen a good Chelsea team in years let alone a defence, but I’m not going to start saying this team is sh*t before they’ve played a meaningful game.

Or maybe he's using pre-season for what it's intended on doing, trying new things out and trying to get players fit. If we fielded this team in these positions in a league game I'd be livid.

We’ve struggled finding passes out from the back which can be expected with new players and system.  Once we’ve moved the ball out from the back I’ve liked the way we’ve moved the ball through midfield.  Just not working up front.

If it wasn’t for the disaster first 5 minutes it would have been pretty even.  Quite a few creases to iron out but it’s not end of the world unfixable.

It's not so much the team is sh*t, but the CB's are. We're basically relying on Colwill's potential, because none of the others are top 6 defenders.

Beyond the 2 goal giveaway it has been pretty even. But we still don't have an obvious striker.

He's got 4 actual wingers on the bench, so, while I get your point, I think it's just plain daft playing a midfielder on the wing ahead of all 4 of them ...

And the whole world and his dog knows Enzo is sh*te as an attacking midfielder as well ...

You’ve written Tosin and Fofana off without them playing any notable minutes.

Or you know, maybe he’s using it to get minutes into legs of players who need it.

lets try and remeber this is pre season, not every decision is done with winning this game in mind. I doubt he’s tactically shifted his system to win this game, so he’s either trying something that hasn’t worked or he wants minutes in their legs (or not in the legs of the wingers)

Not hitting the panic button yet... but... if EM wants to play this style of football (play out from back, possession stuff) he obv hasn't watched our previous attempts. We simply do not have the calibre of player to do this. Not one of our CB has the foot skills or speed of thought to play out without a proper fu happening every game - and any of the goalkeepers from last season? Well don't make me laugh. 3-0 now.. ffs
