Im not going to paint Neto as a wonderful player but he does work hard and put a relatively decent shift in defensively for a winger. Something a young winger may not yet have drilled into them yet and get caught out more. Throwing these youngsters in the deep end and then getting criticised for missing the basics is inevitable. There were many cries for Acheampong to start last season I think in hindsight that would have been a disaster even more so than the Fofana Chalobah partnership. The question is are these young player really ready to player every week?

Quenda is far better at the defensive side of things than Neto and i doubt Quenda would have lost his head against Arsenal and jumped through Martinelli's legs on a yellow when he wasn't going anywhere.

Young players make mistakes thats all part of the learning process. If we had an experience side then throwing Quenda in the deep end would be less of an issue the players would guide and cover for the lad, but we don't and the problem thats been plaguing the side will continue in that we have a bunch of talented kids running about the pitch that wilt under and adversity. This is not just a Neto thing is the combination of things. Im just worried we're selling off the experience on the pitch for an experienced bench. So far anyway.

Sanchez, Colwill, Lacroix, RJ, Caicedo, Palmer, J. Pedro all start in our strongest XI and have plenty of experience, we don't need Neto. We've also added the likes of Hendo and Welbz behind the scenes.

Fair enough but that’s just last years team with LaCroix instead of Cucurella. I’m not convinced hope I’m wrong.

Hendo and Welbeck are gonna increase the average age by a small margin. The immature inexperienced team remains very similar. Caicedo is a great player but needs to grow up, Colwill has little game time for his age, James is great when he’s fit, and Sanchez is that crazy he makes everyone around him more nervous.

I could say them making a bid for Neto and I reckon we would sell if we get a half decent offer.

A deal to swap Neto with Zubimendi would be excellent. Lots of rumours saying he wants away after they signed Bruno.

Alonso wanted him at Real when he signed for Arsenal.

That would be an absolute dream swap deal, tbh. Zubimendi is a hell of a player and a complete unsung hero at Arsenal, without him they don't get close to winning the league or CL.

Real's failure to secure Zubimendi was the first domino to fall in Alonso's issues there. It meant that Tchouameni and Valverde ended up directly competing for midfield roles, with Alonso preferring the former. He is the only player in the world who can sub in for Rodri without a noticeable drop in quality.

The thing with 'experience' is you need your 'experienced' players to also be among your very best. Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Azpilicueta etc were still the best players in their positions at Chelsea until the day they left. Silva came as unquestionably our best CB (debut game notwithstanding!). Neto isn't in this class of player, and it's hard to see his 'experience' because his petulance means he is rarely a support or role model for younger players. Same thing with Fernandez.

Zubimendi would pretty much solve our midfield overnight. He's everything we're missing.

Fernández (if he were to stay) would then become a bonus whose skills we could use properly rather than an oddly-shaped cog we have to build the team around. Also Neto is sh*te, and would make a fine addition to the useless cast-offs we have foisted upon Arsenal.

Just don't like the idea of a gooner reject and would still prefer Wharton who is much younger and English to help with that English contingent which we had back in our successful times.

Plus don't want Fernandez anyway - he can f**k right off!

Clearly not an alonso type player, Im not sure what type of player he is as he has largely been trash for us since joining. A very middle of the road player and if we get what we spent on him I will wish him well for the rest of his career. Move on ASAP.
