Let's say Lacroix is nailed on to sign. I still think we'd be short in defence if Alonso is to play three at the back. James at the RCB role can't be trusted because of his injury record and Acheampong and Hato are way too young. Romero is decent enough and has a lot of fight in him. We need some of that in our team.

Is there an age limit to playing in defence? Cubarsi was one of the best players at the WC at 19yrs, oh and Yamal was Spain’s talisman at 19.

In a 1-game-a-week season, we can expect Colwill and Lacroix to play 90-95% of the league matches. If we want to play a back 3, James is likely to occupy the RCB position. His fitness will be questionable, but that is where Acheampong can step in and prove himself.

I think we'd all like another CB, but there would have to be several outgoings, like Fofana/Tosin.

Not really, but Cubarsi was surrounded with experienced players all around him.

I can't stand Romero, proper w**ker. If we have to sign one of their players whilst selling Neto, then I would rather not bother.

Please, please, please make this possible... If Liverpool want him to replace Salah, there are going to be some seriously unhappy scousers next season. Cant wait to hear both City and liverpool fans crying for their mommys.

Both Neto and Garnacho should be decent transition players.

I think both will do much better at Liverpool and Villa if the moves come off. It’s a very low bar though.

Neto had two decent spellls in his time at Chelsea but has just got worse and worse this season. He was poor with Portugal at the WC too.

Garnacho will eclipse his entire Chelsea career if he doesn’t fall over the ball on his Villa debut.

It’s crazy that we will get £100 million or thereabouts for them.

Id have sacked the SDs for far less.

Rogers is a gamble for the financial aspect but I don’t think he’s a gamble as a player for either of Alonso’s preferred systems. He looks a good fit for both.
