But by the same merit, Rogers amortised cost would only be £13m per year, rather than £24m per year. So surely it equals out?

On a go forward i think you are right, but if i am right (highly likely i'm not) we have an incoming amortised deficit to to clear. So if we are on a carry forward of -£60m, we get to clear that by selling Jackson and then amortise Rogers. It is kicking the can down the road but this is what they started by spreading this spend on this basis from the outset.

Its why i think they can't afford to sell off all of the silver, if they are struggling to create profitable assets from the kids they are hoarding. They will need to maintain a pipeline of profitable sales to finance the incoming amortised "debt". @SydneyChelsea and @terraloon are the guys that know this stuff though.

You are right but this is part of the plan and always has been, from before BlueCo. Emenalo/Granovskaia's loan army was designed to keep ~50m in sellable player assets available for any given window, with key player sales used as windfalls; BlueCo are probably aiming for around ~150m with the ability to double that by selling key players when absolutely necessary. Kicking the can down the road is the strategy by design.

The main concerns with it are that no one outside the PL is interested in paying properly for our players (so there are opportunity cost issues with strengthening direct rivals), that we can't guarantee big sales we hoped for (eg Enzo situation) and the plan works until it...doesn't. Profitability isn't issue only as long as there is a steady stream of cash from sales. One year of bad sales or reduced market conditions, combined with mediocre results, and we're in trouble.

Selling has never been our real problem, though. We're the best selling club in the PL over the last decade, over a billion GBP raised and the only "ones that got away" in that time were two kids from 13 years ago. It's the fact that we've sucked at buying replacements. Our 'market opportunities' have proven to be some of the hardest to move on (Jackson, Delap, Tosin) or have only departed in exceptional circumstances (Garnacho, Felix). The recycling of the squad is good in theory but without better buying, it just ends up with us stuck and unable to meaningfully improve.

“EXCL: Manchester City make direct contact with Pedro Neto’s camp as talks start over possible move. Neto among #MCFC target if Savinho goes to Spurs while he’s also understood to be on Tottenham list as backup option. Deal also depends on Chelsea valuation.”

There is a deal to be done here, just don’t put a silly fee on him.

City are out of their minds. Neto just does not suit possession based football, he's a counter attacking winger.

Maresca is welcome to all the sh*t players he kept playing despite them being sh*t here.

I’m not against selling Neto but we can’t have a Cucurella situation where we let a player go only to buy an inferior player.

Think the lad Godts of Aj@x is an interesting player but it looks like PSG are in for him and he’s a left sided winger.

Rumours of us interested in Matias Fernandez-Pard but know nothing of him.

As a right winger we will only have Estevao. Roger’s is left and Gittens. Is Quenda the other right sided player?

We have Palmer but he’s going to be predominantly a 10. Squad maybe bloated in some areas but not the right side. Think if we sell Neto we will need a replacement.

Yes. IMO, bar any freak injuries, we should be able to get through the first half of the season with the amount of games we have. It's time Estevao gets solid minutes instead of the 15-30minutes cameos

I wouldn’t spend any Neto money on another winger I’d spend on Diogo Costa then if we can sell Enzo go for Wharton I can’t see Enzo going anywhere now though and suspect he becomes a constant side show at press conferences and interviews.

Great sale if it happens.

Rogers, Palmer, Estevao, Pedro and Welbeck are good attacking options imo. We can get rid of all the others.

Enzo Maresca when asked if a deal was close for Pedro Neto:

🗣 "No, not at the moment. The reason why I said there are things to do is because the transfer window is open and when it’s open anything can happen. Yeah, it’s just August and then from September when it’s closed it’s completely different."

Both Maresca and Neto share Jorge Mendes as an agent. Seems straightforward or this is Mendes putting pressure on Chelsea to clarify Neto’s squad status, and or offer him a new improved contract. Think he would prefer moving him on for his agent fees.

What does make me laugh is the talk of a new more experienced Chelsea but if we sell Neto on top of Cucu the starting eleven age will near enough be the same if we sign this Pep fellow. If the Shedend dream happens and we sell Enzo get Wharton and Penders starts in net our starting eleven will be less experienced than last season. We will have a couple of pensioners on the bench to make the overall squad average higher. Classic BlueCo PR bo**ocks strikes again.

Genius that fella, knows how "time" work and everything...

In Neto's case that would be a pretty hard thing to acheive.

Experience doesn't just mean age though, they have to lead the squad. Neto isn't a good example for the other players, he's a petulant man baby with an excessive ego.

Experience pretty much comes with age, Im not going to lie and say Neto is a font of footballing wisdom and irreplaceable but he will have experiences that can help in games a younger player may not understand. Plenty of petulant man babies in football his national team mates Fernandes and Ronaldo are 2 but thats doesn't mean they don't have experience. Particularly when the replacement is Gittens or Quenda. Wasn't the issue selling off all the experienced heads cause all these young lads were more talented?

Im not going to paint Neto as a wonderful player but he does work hard and put a relatively decent shift in defensively for a winger. Something a young winger may not yet have drilled into them yet and get caught out more. Throwing these youngsters in the deep end and then getting criticised for missing the basics is inevitable. There were many cries for Acheampong to start last season I think in hindsight that would have been a disaster even more so than the Fofana Chalobah partnership. The question is are these young player really ready to player every week?
