He can't? Shouldn't the order of operations be -> call the foul -> check camera if tight decision -> 2nd check by var team if undecided -> call foul/non-foul?

He calls the foul. VAR referee checks it. If it's not a clear and obvious error, on field ref's decision stands

It is based on H2H so any result in that game, we would have finished in second place and played Benfica.

ah - hadn't known that. Good stuff.

Benfica more winnable than bayern

Commentators getting George and Acheampong confused. They look completely different face_palm

George and Saka I understand. Even my wife who know next to nothing just said he looked like Saka. But He looks nothing like Acheampong

Based on total nonsense. We all know the laws of the game. If it hits the opposition player and goes off its a corner. Why is there a need to change one of the most basic laws of the game

Er, I should have put a smiley face on my comment. I made it up. But, you never know with FIFA 😂

But the obvious error is that he a)the player had no line of sight to the ball at the time b) did not have his arm in an unnatural position c) was even moving his arm away and behind his back when it hit the hand.

Therefore - clearly there was no intent, and he was not purposefully making his body bigger/unnatural. Decision to overturn justified based on those things (assuming the ref thought he did have line of sight or did do it on purpose or did have his hand in an unnatural position.)

Now now Jim, those folk all look the same, donchcha know ?

Well, you can only beat what's in front of you!

Origin of this phrase, slightly more interesting than the game : 2018 England versus Panama game from group G, which ended up 6-1

Intent is not a consideration anymore.

The rule clarifies that if a player's hand or arm is in a position that makes their body unnaturally bigger and the ball makes contact, it is likely to be called a handball.

ln this case, his hand was not in a position that makes the body unnaturally bigger. The ref saw that in the replay - and overturned his initial decision.

The other one is...'you can only get beat by what's in front of you"

Spot on. Intent is not a consideration.

Information

Good win! Job done. Great for Delap to get his first goal. Santos got some minutes...

So we face Benfica then? Would have preferred Bayern from the two but it should be a good game.
