Ben Jacobs has reported Liverpool DID contact both Monaco and the player to ask them to wait and that is why the plug was pulled on the deal, maybe that is what camara also wanted.

Even when it had nothing to do with them, they still want the spotlight

At th end of the day we left it till the last minute so have nobody to blame but ourselves in that respect, Cameras name has been mentioned in the last few days so we have had ample opportunity to get this deal done, if it had fallen through as per last night for whatever reason at lest we would have still had a day or two to seek out any alternative that Alonso wanted.

Camara was a player we needed in a position that every man and his dog knows is a massive problem for us with the lack of natural depth there and the reliance on Moises.

We could have gone in early and tried to get Camara over the line - the money was there but instead we spend 40m signing a player that we ship straight out on loan to another club.

Maybe Monoco/Camara would still have not come , however at least we would have known early on.

Absolute sh1teshow as we've become so accustomed to.

There is a real opportunity here for one of our youth players to really step up until January. Landon Emenalo, Reggie Watson and Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli are all still available and whilst extremely young, we’ve seen young players excel in our midfield over the years such as Josh McEachran, Billy Gilmore and more recently Reggie Walsh who would require a recall but I’d rather he got more minutes at Wigan.

Obviously none of that is perfect but the doom and gloom and negativity is something us fans need to drive out of ourselves because we carry that into the stadium and it transfers into the team.

Emenalo wasn't given a shirt number and looks like he is going on loan to Celtic, but totally agree on the other two. I think the player who will really grasp the opportunity with both hands though is Barco.

Hard for me to get too bent out of shape at our failure to sign a player who I'd never heard of until yesterday evening.

Instead I'm putting faith in Alonso to come up with a decent midfield out of the 6 specialist options he does have, plus the two right backs.

Fans losing their sh*t over not signing a player they hadnt heard of 2 days ago is pretty standard stuff nowadays unfortuantely.

Would he have got in the side ahead of Caicedo & Lavia IF (and it’s a f**king huge if) both are fit and available?

He doesn't get into the side ahead of Barco, who has virtually the same record, profile and comes with the added benefit of actually playing in the PL before.

I think a lot of fans think he is a defensive Caicedo-type player. He is not, he is more akin to Jorginho.
