nice one Jack

I only listened on the Radio (driving up the motorway) but it sounded like Joey pulled the strings out there and gelled the team together, Collymore raved about his input and observed (rightfully I think) that Deco plays better with Joey in the team.

sounded about right but I wont put my vote in till I see it later.

Mikel maintained his recent run of form, and with Deco and Lampard, controlled the midfield. Ashley Cole and Joe Cole were both excellent - shame they had to go off. Anelka? Yes he scored a hat-trick but even so, that wasn't a man of the match perfermance. Joe Cole I think, if he'd have been on for the whole game ... no I'm voting Mikel again.

Joe Cole.

Mikel was also great again, but I think Joe deserves it.

Mineiro acquitted himself well when he came I thought, he seems quite small, and reminded me of a certain Frenchman.

Joe Cole all the way. We look so, so much better with him on the pitch, he really is one to create chances and open up our play. Anelka wouldn't get it despite the goals simply because they were all tap-ins (the first one even a tap-in to the tap-in), so there was little to none actual skill involved. Otherwise, I again wish Malouda and Anelka were sold as soon as a bid of at least a penny comes in.

I mentioned it before, I will say it again - I don't seriously see us losing many points, if any, to clubs outside of the top 4. There will be the odd exception, but we are just so overwhelming lesser teams with so little apparent effort it's unbelievable.

I just wish we could be half so fluent and dominant in all games.

still dont think anelka is up to much even with the hat trick. super frank again for me,the fella is gettin better and better.

p.s is it really greedy of me or does anyone else wish we could just push on a bit more. i know we are playin some lovely stuff and its a vast improvement on recent years but i just thought we could have got so much more out of todays game had we of pushed on that bit extra when we seemed to take our foot off the pedal for most of the second half. i know we have roma mid week and we did win 5 so im prob just pickin at nothin, just feels like if we played to our full potential for 90 mins we would be terrorisin teams.

joe showed just what we missed last sunday so had to be mom...i could have got anelka's hat-trick today...tap-ins galore...amazing he's joint top scorer in league and he's been mediocre...just imagine what drogba would be on now should he have been fully fit from day one

Check out what they've written about Mikel. It's ridiculous! (Goal.com)

Cech – 7: Really didn’t have much to do. Did what he was supposed to do and kept a clean sheet in goal.

Bosingwa – 7.5: The Portuguese international impressed with his runs down the right flank. Solid display from Bosingwa.

Alex – 7.5: Sunderland hardly threatened the Chelsea backline. Alex had not much to do in defence. But the Brazilian managed to get the score sheet by scoring the goal that sparked the avalanche of goals for the Blues.

Terry – 7.5: The Chelsea skipper had an assured showing and played a number of key passes from the back to spark several good attacking moves.

Ashley Cole – 7: Had a very impressive showing on the left flank but had to be replaced by Wayne Bridge. Tormented Sunderland’s Chimbonda with his pace and skill on the ball.

Mikel – 6: Save for one shot that sail wide over the goal, the Nigerian contributed little in midfield. Not the most brilliant performance from Mikel. He could be one of the players who might find himself out of Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window.

Joe Cole – 8: A lively display from Cole. He was everywhere in midfield – showing on left, right and centre. Made several intelligent and accurate passes. Cole clearly enjoyed himself this afternoon, even though he didn’t grab a goal.

Deco – 7: Good showing from the Portuguese playmaker. Though he faded somewhat in the second half, he contributed to a number of key passes which led to goals for Chelsea.

Lampard – 8: Always a consistent performer for the Blues. Lampard is a real steel in midfield and he showcased that with an assured display in the centre of the field. Grabbed a goal with a good header.

Malouda – 8.5: Brilliant, brilliant display from the Frenchman. He was key tormentor for Sunderland on the left flank. His pace, physicality and skill was too much for the Sunderland backline to handle.

Anelka – 8: Hat-trick hero at Stamford Bridge. Despite scoring three goals, Anelka mainly had the simplest of task of tapping the ball into the net on two of the three occasions.

Subs: Drogba 6, Bridge 6, Mineiro 5

Which game that had nothing to do with the game last night were you watching ? :frank:

Mikel has been our most consistent performer alongside Frank and he did his job in a solid and composed way again. He might not have "contributed" as much as you would like in attack and I am more than happy with that, since his position suggests he would spend most of the time helping the back four. He needs to get his shooting together, I agree, but that thing about him being sold in the winter (the winter, FFS) is, I am sorry, a moronic thing to say :D

Malouda is a useless piece of space on the field and, although I must admit he did contribute last night, he is one I would gladly, very gladly see out of the team. To say he was the tormentor of Sunderland defense and actually rate him higher than J. Cole is absurd. Oh, and what is that about his physical play - he is the one player on the team you can push around all you like - he doesn't have the muscles to get past a revolving door, let alone an opposing player.

Anelka getting an 8 is generous in the extreme. His hattrick was probably the easiest he will ever score and all the goals were tap-ins (the first was even a tap-in to the tap-in and the third was a misplaced shot through on goal that somehow took a huge deflection off the keeper and went in). Other than that, he was again nowhere to be seen when we needed a man in the box and made his characteristic runs backwards, that are not OK when you are a lone striker.

I voted for Malouda, and am shocked that he got so few votes. Who made excellent passes to set up two tap-ins for Anelka?

Malouda, that be!

Joe Cole played well, and set up one goal well, but I saw Malouda holding the ball well, making some good defensive plays, and being very lively out there. Joe Cole did some of those same things, but it's just that there should have been a more even vote between the two for MoM, in my opinion.

For me it was between Alex and Joe Cole and I am surprised to see Alex get so few votes. I have opted for Alex on the grounds that once again he has stepped in when required and looks like he has been playing in the first team for years.

I'm surprised you could see anything through that fringe of yours!

Everyone played their part yesterday. Thought Alex was superb as was Mikel and good to see Anelka have a good game.

But Joe gets it for me. There was a buzz every time he got the ball and it's great to see him make things happen out of nothing.
