Probably won't see him in Arsenal red either...so that's something.

I think we should loan Josh to someone like Southampton, Norwich or even Reading (if they come up). Give him a season playing because we will ruin him if he keeps on spending time on the bench.

The problem i think with Josh is he isnt quite ready yet. We all want him to be but if he cant get a game at Swansea what makes you think he will get one at any of those clubs? I think either a loan to a championship club or maybe Hamburg even will do him some good. He needs to bulk up a bit.

I wish we had signed Shaqiri, Bayern only got him for 10 million euros and he looked really good.

People on this forum felt he wasn't good enough after the game against Utd. Probably mirrors the thinking in the board room

Swansea have one of the most in-sync midfields in the Premiership; I was also keen for him to go there but as lots of other people on here pointed out when Swansea got Sigurdsson, it had mistake written all over it.

After watching last nights game. It is abundantly clear to me that we need to move on in the summer and quickly. If we want to play the free flowing attractive football that roman is hoping for then we need to offload so many players it is unreal. However we must bring in quality. Last night highlighted how poor some of our boys really are on the ball. They are nowhere near technically good enough. For me you could quite easily get rid of , Obi, lamps, drog, flo, merieles , essien. And Bertrand has looked tidy so get rid of cole aswell. it may seem a bit OTT but none of the above are capable of playing quick short football. And I'm sick of watching the sh*t we had to see last night

Easily said but not easily done. There are other threads about this on the board.

Getting rid of the 'old guard' all in one go would be a huge mistake IMO and i think we would go down a few positions in the league for the next few seasons if we had a complete wipe out and brought in all new players. For one they wouldn't gel together and the majority of players who join a new club are never there best compared to the reason why you're buying them (e.g. Torres, Drogba, Shevchenko) but given a season or 2 they hopefully would improve, but you don't know if they would be given that time from our future manager and/or Roman.
Without the old guard we wouldn't be in the CL, and we still have a chance of finshing 3rd or 4th but only if they pull there finger out.

For me i wouldnt be worried about all of the old guard going but i just cant see Chelsea splashing out loads of money to replace them. At this current time none of the old guard are hard to replace but would Roman dig deep to clear out say 7 or so players and replace them all? I dont think so. I wouldnt be at all surprised if Paulo, Malouda, Raul M, Essien, Cole, Lamps and Mikel are all still with us next season. Drogba and Kalou are out of contract so i can see them being let go for free but the others we either have to sell (and the player has to agree to go, which wont be easy as i cant see many teams paying the wages that some of those players are on) or we have to buy them out of their contract.

Imo there would have to be a balance as you risk losing your strength in depth and cover, e.g. Cole/Bertrand... I would expect to see a more cautious approach with an input of around 2 or 3 new players which also leaves the opportunity for youngsters to come in where appropriate.

Im sure he can but if he will put his hand that deep into his pocket remains to be seen. I have no doubt there will be business going on this summer but i cant see a massive spending spree.

FFP can't afford it. We'll loose £30 millions on not making the CL next year.
If Torres goes out, a new top notch striker needs to come in. Sturridge isn't consistent enough to play 50+ games a season. Higuain would be useless, he hasn't the physique to play 70 minutes in La Liga without getting bloody tired. Cavani may be an option, but remember the game against us at the Bridge? Terry, who had been out for 2 months, kept him deep down his back pocket. Not to forget about the power our players seems to have in the club; do we have any guarantees that a new foreign striker will settle in right away? I'd say keep Torres and build the team around him. Let Sturridge be our second striker, he thrives on the same passes that Torres do as a central forward.
The rest, I agree. High wages and crappy perfomances doesn't go hand in hand.
Buy two new wingers and one central midfielder. Bring back Josh, Kakuta and Kalas, and let De Bruyne get some playing time, he has the right foot of an angel
It's time to reform the club again. In 10 years, our game has relied on a Lampard in top shape and a hungry Drogba. To put Torres/Sturridge/any other striker in the position Drogba has had is naive. There's only one Drogba, there's not even a point to look after a replacement for him. Buy smaller players who doesn't have their feet made out of stones, and let them keep possesion of the ball. Balls down channels and in behind the opponents defence, and we can talk about results next year.
