Y'know, a thought just struck me....maybe Charlie never gave the youth a change at Milan simply because the youth products in Italy are just....bad. Anybody out there who follows Serie A can confirm this? I remember Lippi commenting after the Confed Cup that Italy have no youth talent to bleed in the first place. Here's hoping (all 10 fingers and toes crossed) that Charlie does dip his fingers in our reserves and pull some talent out. (This post was inspired by Abramovich's statement on youth and chances).

Agree with Cap and Bluenut. If there was never any doubt, why not tell us as soon as the rumours started gaining momentum. Its great that he's staying on, but I'll never think of JT in the same light any more.

Agree with most of the points, though I still have my doubts about Shevchenko. Still think he's past it and should be shipped out. To have him around as a squad player, with his wages, would be criminal! Very impressed with Di Santo and I feel that Carlo has his eye on the lad, as well as having high hopes for Sturridge. Entirely possible that they could be our first choice frontline in a few years time. They certainly have the potential. However, like Sheva, I'm still gonna keep my feet on the ground as far as Sturridge is concerned. Deco could redeem himself in the eyes of many fans this season, and would certainly be a better piece of business instead of buying Pirlo. The squad has a balanced feel to it and I actually believe that we're in a better position to survive the ACN than 2 years ago (I mena, come on, Steve Sidwell????) Good start Charlie. :(

The goals! Franco's assist was sublime! He practically WALKS the ball around the defender. This kid is gold!

Sheva and Pizzarro have failed to impress so far, and may well be on the way out A marquee signing is necessary on two tactical fronts: on the field and off it. There is still a need for a game-breaking player of the Robben, Messi mold. Off the field, we need to show the world that Chelsea are NOT a spent force. Most likely he will be a forward/attacking player. Note also that players such as Deco and Ballack do not have much time left on their contracts and may have to be replaced. If we are going to spend money on someone, it should be on a player who will be given time to adapt to the PL, with other senior squad members around to support him.

Just like Moos, I'm not a big hip-hop fan, but this one is definitely for everyone, be you a fan or not. Thumbs up.

The way I see it, Barca are just running scared right now. They've seen the strength of our defence, and know of the potency of our attack. Not getting the goals at home puts them at a real disadvantage seeing how it is entirely possible we WILL outscore them next week. Cluck-cluck-CLUUUCCKK!

That would be too obvious. The theories that draws are fixed are well-known across Europe. If English teams faced off against each other too early, with the news coming a week after Platini's comments, it would just smack of tampering. Essien has more power and drive than Ballack, and Mikel does a better job of shielding the defense (so what good is the German then, eh?). At a place like WHL, against their pace-y frontline, 2 athletic holding midfielders may be called for. I'm delighted with Guus's reign, its moving in the right direction. However, I am dissappointed with the number of goals scored, especially a t home. This time around, I'd gladly settle for a 1-0 in our favour.
