  1. I agree that he's not good enough for us. Loses the ball in a dribble far too often against decent quality defenders. Misses too many sitters. There was a spell last season when he seemed to be enjoying his wide role and provided some decent ammunition but, with the trophies we're aiming at, he's a way short of the quality demanded.
  2. Err...you didn't mean to cause offence to anyone. Why would you write it then?
  3. Are you sure taking your pants off was nothing to do with the naked Britt Ekland?
  4. I second that elk (didn't think I'd ever second an elk, let alone a sexelk, but we only live once). I'm also convinced that his accurate short-passing game and ability to retain ball in confined spaces, can be used to great effect further up the pitch. All we need is to attach an electrode to him, which delivers a 40,000 volt jolt to his nether regions, when the tiniest flicker of a thought of shooting bubbles up in his brain.
  5. WTF?! http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...5449270,00.html I wonder if he's thinking of Porto?
  6. I think he may well be a "head-down" type player (anyone remember Franz Carr, the supreme example of a brainless winger with immense pace?) According to Villa fans, they don't want to see him leave now the taciturn Downing's arrived, because Young's a colourful character, very vocal on the pitch and not scared to wade in with a few choice words. As far as I'm concerned, we need a few more characters, someone with a bit of fire. How about a swap with Kalou plus some cash? (from us I mean)
  7. Young would be more of a one-man tent signing.
  8. The Press Association has just announced that Stewart Downing's signed for Villa in a 12m deal.
  9. I didn't notice how Carlo's previous teams were set up. Can anyone enlighten me? Twin strikers? One holding player? I imagine it will be the usual Italian reliance on defence and possession above all, which means no great change from Jose's masterplan.
  10. Just announced it on Talksport radio. Can't find it elsewhere.
  11. Thank you guys, much appreciated. I'll give it a go. Cheers
  12. I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to IT, so be gentle with me! I need to open a file with the extension "dotx" which I gather is part of Office 2007, which I don't have (I have a much older version). If I download this... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en Does anyone know if it'll then allow me to open the file? I don't want to mess up my existing MS Office, as I'm at a crucial stage of an important job! I'm running Windows XP Pro 2002 (service pack 3) Many thanks in advance. Ken
  13. A slow reply from me I'm afraid as just noticed the thread. Absolutely mindblowing stuff! If you touched Otis I'm sure you would've got an electric shock that night. You're right about the backing band and those dancers are pure, undiluted energy! Thnaks for posting, Lofty.
  14. Yes, I thought it was ages ago but the debate is always relevant! I currently live in Ilkley, up in the Yorkshire Dales, and Hendrix actually played at a local hotel called The Troutbeck (now a care home). It caused a mini riot and the single copper on duty shut the gig down after two songs! Apparently Hendrix was away with the fairies and dreadful (must've been the magic mushrooms that grow on the moor!)
  15. Apologies if this has been posted in the past but I thought it might stir up some lively debate! http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/593...ts_of_all_time/ For me it's hard to look past Hendrix, as such a force of nature and such an innovator. Just wish I'd seen him play, as many of my friends did. There's a lovely quote here, saying that he actually had the power to bring you out of an acid trip...Jimi was bigger than LSD!
  16. Me too, I just hope that Kakuta recovers fully from his bad injury. For someone so reliant on pace and skill, it may mean that he's never quite the same again, plus there's the psychological impact.
  17. Sounds like more agent-inspired claptrap to me (just a coincidence he's renegotiating his deal in Paris). http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...5408738,00.html Judging from the youtube compilation, he's very similar to Kakuta but we all know video compilations are about as reliable as an MP's expenses declaration.
  18. You must be Glen's dad! If not, I'd love to know on what you base your opinion.
  19. Sounds like a pretty level-headed kid.
  20. I found this on the Telegraph website. You have to wonder if the reporter was at the game! Ashley Cole 6/10 and offered no threat in attack. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...er-ratings.html
  21. Thanks for that, I hadn't seen it. What a corker!
  22. On Sky's Sunday Supplement this morning, they're talking quite seriously about this, citing the Adidas connection and Beckham's property near the Bridage, as reasons why this may happen. He can't be any worse than Deco! (or can he?) Personally, I think he'll be way off the pace in the Premiership.
  23. Fernandinho? Is that Les and Ronnie's love child? He would make one hell of a striker!
  24. You forgot to mention the cash he'd be getting!
  25. He did but he's still not himself (understandably). Lets the ball run away from him far too often for my liking.
