I can't think of any player who didn't look more confident, more comfortable on the ball and more effective than he has for a long while, and that includes Deco who's appearance was greeted with disbelief. Ballack also notably had his best game for a long time. Frank Lampard was again outstanding, and Bosingwa, who has been a liability in recent weeks, looked effective in attack and defence, and it's for this improvement that I'm giving him my vote.

Tough one. I can't vote just yet. I don't care what anyone says. Cech was GREAT all the way through. Villa is a tough team for goalkeepers because they throw up so many crosses. He handled them very well.

Bosingwa totally locked down Ashley Young and had some nice moments in attack. He should have scored and would have with a better shot on that give and go with Drogba.

Terry almost scored from that corner and was solid in holding everything together at the back. Lamps was, as per his usual, our best midfielder by a mile. I'm tempted to say Lamps because it was his moment of brilliance that produce the goal that changed the game.

Would have gone for Lampard had he not gone quiet with the arrival of Deco, got to give this to Cech as although he never had that much shot stopping to do he looked back to his assured self which made the whole game easier to watch..I never thought they would score and I haven't had that feeling for a while.

to clarify, deco ruined lampard's second half?

I thought we went more cautious and obviouly nervy the longer the game went on...

but not a bad performance form anyone. voted jt, was a rock for much of the game.

My only problem with JT's play was he seemed to needless give up throw-ins deep in our territory by booting the ball sideways into touch, when he could have easily driven the ball into their half. Seemed to happen about a half-dozen times. Safety-first policy? No problem with that, but he has better skills than that.
