MOTM vs Villa

Malouda for me - of the front three players he was the only one really looking to drive at players and create anxiety in the Villa defence. Anelka didn't offer enough support throughout the 90 - Zhirkov did offer more than Kakuta did.

thought malouda was ok, but seemed to give the ball away a lot, particularly in the first half...very few impressed, but I go for Ivanovic...he defended well for the most part, made key tackles and blocks

Ivanovic for me, always strong and nearly won the game with that bullet header, I thought we looked much better when Zhirkov came on and Josh again looks a real prospect.

Not pointing at Kakuta who I thought might struggle in this type of game, Glad he had a good run out though in a tough game, he can only be learning by it.

Just a word for Cech, he got down well to Carews shot low at his far post, that and some decent takes in the air was what we needed from him today.

Have to give credit to Paulo too, before the match I thought he would be a weak link in defence, he did everything that was asked of him especialy in the first half when he often left exposed.

I went for Malouda. He gave Cole so much support and that was really nice to see. He's like a machine - he never stops running, unlike some other players (cough anelka cough).

Ivan....he was rock in the defense. Ash was very good as well and Zhirkov played really well offensively with some good crosses and good runs.

I thought he did his job really well and certainly alot better than I thought.

Okay, he might not have been the best player today, but I've criticised him so much that when he actually has a good game I have to give him my vote.

match of the day also creamed their pants over wilshire...so much so they laughed off his horrendous tackle and said if it wasn't for the furore of late, it would have just been a yellow

I am sure if Josh was at Arsenal, he'd be as good if not better than Wilshere. The only difference is while Wilshere is now a regular first teamer, Josh will take another season or two or maybe even more.

And to be fair, Wilshere was actually pretty good, maybe even the best player on the pitch, before being sent off.

can't really look any further than Ivanovic and Mikel .... Going for Ivanovic but just to say if player of the season award was given in October then Mikel would get my vote
