We need to loan out Kalou

Featured Replies

...for the first 6 months of every season.

It seems that after Feb 1st every season, Kalou becomes a whole new player, turning chances into goals and generally contributing a whole lot more to the team.

Before a week or so in an interview he said ,he gets himself into good position but finishing is where he is lacking .After that he

appeared in two matches and two goals!!!!!

Its patent that he knows his weakness and is working really hard on it.Still a lot of work to be done but reckon a star is rising!!!

Chelsea till i die!!!

Shame his epiphany didn't come about 4 years ago.

He's what 24? If he scored a goal a game from now on I'd say his epiphany came at just the right time! f**k if he scored a goal every three or four games I'd be happy.

Most under-rated player at the club imo.

I think your right to be honest, but I also dont think he should be a first choice player. He is still a squad player for me, able to come in and do a job when needed and great to bring no as a sub when we need a change. I love his attitude also, never complained, never demanded anything. Just seems to know his place and gets on with his job.

Kalou is the most frustrating player we have. Every now and agian he shows signs that he is really starting to develop as a player but then all of a sudden he is back to where he started. Now dont get me wrong i still think he has alot of time to develop, but I realy expected him to be quite a bit better than this by now. Fingers crossed he can really push on this season and prove me wrong. :JC_doubleup:

I'm usually the first to slag off K-a-l-o-u but recently he has played at lot better, still way too short to command a regular starting slot, but at least things are moving in the right direction. Just think how good he'll be when he is 35

Totally agree, he no way deserves half the stick he gets and is rarely the worst player in the team even on a bad day.

If he'd have been loaned out and scored the Goal Sturridge did yeasterday people would have called it lucky and not be hoping he came back ready for the first team next year, Hes always got into good positions and been on the end of chances, hes scored against all levels of opposition and he seems happy to be back up, I'm glad hes a Chelsea player.

With us now looking like playing with 2 strikers I think will benefit kalou alot more, and hopefully sturridge next season. He has looked recently but I do agree with dkw that we is and prob will always be back up.

Am I the only one who thought he was awful on Tuesday? Sure, he scored, and as such, I can forgive most of his errors but he really didn't have a good game, objectively speaking. Hitting both posts on a wide open goal, that abortion of a cross to (presumably) Drogba when we had another chance to score, the turnovers... Malouda came on and was far more dangerous. Kalou simply isn't much of a player. Sure, he's only 24 but where's the career progression? How much longer can we point to his age and assume improvement is a foregone conclusion? He is what he is. I don't see him suddenly growing a brain to match his admittedly impressive physical qualities.

Oh yes he's a squad player for sure, unlucky for him it's a squad with THREE world class strikers in front of him, how many fourth choice strikers are as good as Kalou ?

He's a player that always (as you said) gets in the right areas, thats half the job done for me, he doesnt score prolificily, but he is a regular goal scorer, look at his stats...

06/07 - 56 Apps- 9 Goals

07/08 - 46 - 9

08/09 - 43 - 10

09/10 - 36 - 12

10/11 - 26 - 10

Total = 207 Apps - 50 Goals

Just realised that the goal against Sunderland was his 50th for the club, over 10 a season, and improving all the time, still only 24 as well.

Thats the point some people seem to miss when talking about squads. He is now 4th choice, was probably 3rd choice before Torres arrived, but I bet not many clubs had a striker to call on as good as him beyond their first 2 or 3 strikers.

If I was Carlo, I would make sure not to forget our smiling fourth choice striker, I would include him (if fit) in most games, even if only the last 10 minutes, keep him included.

I think this sums it up perfectly. King Kalou is a very good player to have around.

The attitude from some people on here towards Kalou is sickening. Hence my user name, i figured somebody should show a chelsea player some support

He missed an open goal vs Sunderland when he hit the post? Was that an imaginary keeper standing there then?

If that was any other player it would have been deemed unlucky, but with Kalou its because hes crap, not chelsea standard etc

Never mind the goal he scored or the hitting the post, his general play was great during the match and i believe both times he set up Lamps on the penalty spot to smash one home only for the final shot to be blocked

Considering his amount of playing time he gets on the pitch he gets more than a fair share amount of goals. He's probably our best dribbler of the ball, hes young enough, hes fast, he never once moans about being on the bench and has a great team attitude. What more do you want? Do you expect us to have Messi as a back up player?

In the real world Kalou is one of the best squad players around and if he scores when he comes off the bench i dont mind him starting the next match.

I'll admit I'm still not convinced about him starting the big games like the one on Sunday against Liverpool. Plays more like a talented youngster than a guy who's had loads of top level experience. That said, I'm pretty happy having him on the bench because of his versatility and ability to make things happen.

Still not sure what his best position is though. Came here as a striker having scored loads of goals in the Eredivisie. Converted into more of a winger here, but on the evidence of the last game, maybe striker is his best position although his finishing is slightly suspect. His progression has been a bit slow but at 25, I wouldn't rule out further development from him. Ultimately a good bench player, who'll never be a starter imo.

Fact is Drogba, Anelka & Malouda aren't getting any younger. Kalou just gets better and better each season and you can't fault his work rate and ability to get into those good positions.

I think we shall sign one big name young striker in the summer (Neymar, Lukaku, Aguero etc) and then for years to come our strike force will consist of Torres, Sturridge, Kalou and whoever we bring in. 4 top strikers, perfect.

He has got better but for me he is still as frustrating as ever, especially when he starts matches.

But Drogba and Anelka won't be around much longer and I'm more than happy when Kalou comes off the bench to try and change a game.

Don't get carried away. Kalou is a good substitute, and has not shown that he is a good starter.

Kalou Time says he is our best dribbler. Oh, then SWP must also have been our best dribbler when he was with us. A good dribbler is someone who also looks up from time to time, to see who to pass to, something neither Kalou nor SWP do much of, in my opinion.

I want Kalou to stay, but come on now, he is not a top striker, and never will be.

He is not worthy enough to start every game yet he still has to prove himself by doing some thing remarkable over a season...but that being said he is like a super sub who can inject that bit of pace when the team needs towards the end of games where the opposition defense is tired

I'm not saying I'd have Kalou (right now) as a first team regular starter, but as a 4th choice striker? No way you'd get any better than him. Love that he's so happy to be patient and wait out his chance, always happy, smiling, giving his all...

Don't forget also that his goal scoring record just keeps improving constantly too, 10+ goals a season for someone who gets as little game time as he does is rather impressive.

He's frustrating at times, sure, but he's also effective. I like the guy a lot.

Exactly --- could not have said it better myself.

Players like Kalou and Ferreira, who never complain, are essential for any squad that wants to do well.
