while rivals excl Utd (who would want to go there anyway) have already completed their bussines and will have new players for the preseason, we are dealing how to make a £100m mistake even a bigger mistake. what a joke we’ve become

Boehly is meanhwile out in public stating aquiring any players at any price is going to be a challenge due to FFP. Doesn't seem to be an issue for most other top teams though.

Not looking particularly good in my opinion.

Very odd comment; and makes you wonder if he is on the same page with his manager. There are/were smart signings to be made in the market; Boubacar Kamara moved to Villa on a free, Calvin Ramsey moved to Liverpool for £6.5m, Fabio Vieira is moving  to Arsenal for £30m, and Aaron Hickey is available for £20m. We have ignored these deals and are looking at big signings, or freebies on massive wages.
Fans will learn how good they had it under Roman & Marina very soon.

I think what he meant was, we cannot keep paying over the odds (i.e. paying 'any price') for players like we used to (eg. Lukaku, Kepa etc.) especially now the new FFP rules are coming into force.

I don't expect to see City abiding by them though. They'll still still continue with their dodgy sponsorships like they always have.

Does that make us mugs? I don't know, but how they continue to get away with it is what I'd like to know.

I admire your optimism!

Think anything less than that and Boehly is asking too much from Tuchel.

Get those three players and utilise the youth players that have 2 years left on their deal. (Ampadu, Broja, etc) Can assess them during the season and hopefully they will perform at 100% knowing this is their chance to impress.

What new FFP rules though? If he is talking about the ones being phased in in 2023 regarding limiting spending on transfers, wages, agents to a % of revenue, then why is the club targeting Dembele who going by these rules will eat up 11% of the proposed 70% target (well 90% in 2023), and Sterling another who will come with £300k/w wages?
Why I am asking this is he also referenced Liverpool as model club in this respect, and they won’t be going near any of these 2 deals.

Haven't a clue what rules he's talking about, just going by this quote in The Times:

The new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has said the club will not be able to buy players at any price because “Financial Fair Play is starting to get some teeth”.

We can't buy players for the sake of buying. IE Bakayoko, Drinkwater, Lukaku, Morata, Zappacosta, etc. The signing needs to make sense and effectively scouted to match the manager/club's vision. Can't make a bad signing and then cut our losses with Roman writing it off.

Basically, we cannot continue making bad transfers.

His first signing should be a Sports Director to shape a vision for the club.

As there's nothing to see here, the BBC Sport website is reporting that Liverpool have agreed a 41m euro (£35.1m) deal to sell Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich.

Seems a good deal for the Germans.

I'm going to see Chelsea in Las Vegas on July 16th, although I'll be happy to see familiar faces what's the chance of any new signings featuring that day ? 😅

Last year of his contract. This is what is confusing about the Jesus & Sterling fees, at £50m, and £60m respectively with also 1 year left on their contracts. But I reckon because both players aren’t publicly pushing for a transfer, because of £m loyalty bonuses.

I really hope neither end up leaving Man-City, the idea of injecting cash into that club is just wrong. Hoping Arsenal keep low-balling them for Jesus or just walk away.

My worry is the operation to correct long standing issue , how often have we seen a player not be the same after an op .

Fofana is the dog's bollocks, if the injury didn't set him back too much.

My Juve supporting mate reckons De ligt is better than any of our current CBs. Don't know if I necessarily agree but he's got a ton of potential to be the best.

with regards to mentality he is a great guy. and he does have a lot of potential. I also like that he has played with great defenders like Chiellini and Bonucci.

if i would make a list of my preferred CB's it would be

1. Fofana

2. Koulibaly (short term)/  De Ligt

i like the idea of having a very experienced defensive duo of Koulibaly - Silva. And he is already very familiar with Mendy.

3. Skriniar

4. Bastoni
