May 6, 201214 yr if you believe the press were monitoring luuk de jong, always rated him, 12.5 mil better than decent back up and still only 21 , http://www.mirror.co...ewcastle-820160 would love to see him here tbf I know they always think they're about to sign everyone, but I've heard a lot from my Scouse-supporting friends that he's Liverpool bound. For a couple million more I'd say we're better off looking at Schurrle for depth on the front line.
May 6, 201214 yr Götze is Bayern-property, just wait and see ;) Can't see him going as Bayern already have Kroos, Muller, Ribery, Robben and Shaqiri. I highly doubt Gotze will be moving this summer.
May 6, 201214 yr Have you guys seen that little midget Giovinco from Parma? Man, he's good. He can play in the hole, as a striker or even as a inside forward (in-cutting winger). Yes, you heard me, he is Gudjohnsen. From what I've seen (10-15 matches) he's as good as Aguero. Would make a deadly striker partnership with Torres/Sturridge next year, I think. Giovinco and Jovetic are exciting and cheaper than Gotze, Hazard, Cavani etc etc.

May 13, 201214 yr Papers in Portugal seem to believe we have agreed to sign Hulk. Wouldn't read too much into it yet tho
May 13, 201214 yr Papers in Portugal seem to believe we have agreed to sign Hulk. Wouldn't read too much into it yet tho His agent(s) or representatives, or whatever you want to call them, have been making a lot of noise that he is going to leave in the summer so there may be some fire to this smoke.
May 14, 201214 yr His agent(s) or representatives, or whatever you want to call them, have been making a lot of noise that he is going to leave in the summer so there may be some fire to this smoke. Theres also a chance said agents are trying to get more interest in their boy to start an auction and raise the price.
May 14, 201214 yr Not linked to either one yet (for good reason) but I was thinking about Stuart Holden and Giuseppe Rossi. Both have been long-term injury casualties, but both were playing great before their injuries. Holden was basically keeping Bolton up by himself last season, and Rossi was on fire before his injury. Both Bolton and Villareal were just relegated, so I would expect both to be making moves, and while it's not certain either will have long-term effects from their injuries, both could be fairly cheap buys. Realistically, I can't see us taking that risk, but I thought it would be worth a post.
May 14, 201214 yr Depending on the price. it would be good to add some English players as we are losing so many over the next few years here without quality replacements. As a midfielder in 4-2-3-1 I wouldn't mind him there at all.
May 14, 201214 yr What a waste of money that would be. Might as well keep Josh at Chelsea and force him to the first team, would probably get better performances from Josh.

Villareal are in big financial trouble and won't want to keep his wages in the second division. He's a smashing player when fit and subject to a very thorough medical, I wouldn't mind us taking a 10m risk on him. Holden is another good player, but he doesn't really fill a need as such,
May 14, 201214 yr No yank players please. Sincerely, ~ A Canadian :p Ok fine, we can just bring in Hoilett. Also, as an American I don't like Rossi, but as a Chelsea fan I'd have a tough time turning a healthy Rossi away. Edited May 14, 201214 yr by ace

Haha, I think we should avoid Canadian players as well based on their lack of top shelf quality. As other Canadians have mentioned we produce better hockey players than we do football players. In fact we rarely produce football players unless theyre like Owen Hargreaves who have multinational roots and play for their parents countries.

Give it time, we're slowly getting there - well Canada in general if we don't count Toronto FC. We're slowly building a good infrastructure with pro clubs (I can't believe they packed 60 000 people in Montreal to see Becks play), and I hope Ottawa can finally get a NASL or MLS club when we build our stadium.

I will be really surprised if Rossi gets to the level he was before he two cruciate injuries, these take sometime to get over. I must admit before Holden got injured I was really impressed with how he plays, as you said pretty much kept Bolton up last season. Would it be worth a punt on both as they both could be available on the cheap as both their respective teams have been relegated this season.
May 15, 201214 yr Its funny how we all thing oh we should go and get this player or that player. I guess as fans we dont look at the bigger picture like squad space and wages and if the player would actually want to join us. I guess playing football manager does that to us.
May 16, 201214 yr http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/7759664/Agent-Toure-open-to-offers I don't think it will happen but his agent mentioned us as a possibility, I'd love to have him here, would be a brilliant replacement for Essien.
