Was that Danny's first signing as manager?

Sorry,could not resist...

Not a great time, but I was still optimistic every pre season back then.

This would be our year.

The innocence of being a young fan.

Grim times being a Chelsea fan, the team may of been crap, but we always looked the dogs in our blue umbro kit and white socks!!!

Agreed mate. Then came the classic Le coq sportif strips of the 1981-86 era. Both the Umbro and the Le coq sportif strips were the business.

In October 1985 we played 4 League games.

Sat 5th. Won 2-1 away at Man City.

Sat 12th . Won 2-1 at The Bridge against Everton (reigning Champions).

Sat 19th. Lost 2-1 away against Oxford Utd.

Sat 26th. Lost 2-1 against Man Utd at The Bridge.

Two wins, two loses and all four League games had a 2-1 shoreline!

Talking of the everton sides I was at the game at the bridge v  everton when they played for the charity shield....( us being cup winners )...think we lost 2 1...........Saw a cracking goal from a young toffee from near the edge of the pen area ....and his name was ............................................................

Hutchinson scored our goal I think. Not sure of the Everton scorers.

Was at this game in 84 lost 4-2 Chelsea making an entrance in the Holte End with about 15 minutes to go as I recall.

I think we were in the trinity stand that day and remember our lot coming in the right side of the Holt end just as the game ended. Lot of H to H outside too.The memory a bit blurred but think we took a 'luxury' coach  a year or two later and were seated above the away end. The driver took us back to a pub we used to regularly stop at outside MK and when we left later he was so bladdered he wanted one of our lot to drive it home. We sobered him up with a pizza.

I remember going to the England v Italy match in 1973, which turned out to be Ossie's last international. Numerous times he found space in the penalty but was starved of service from stuck up bas***ds like Peters, Clarke and Bell. Ramsey never liked him much either, hence only 4 caps.

Sat 12th Oct 85. 2-1 Chelsea. Dixon and Speedie for us. Sheedy for them.

Thanks. If I remember correctly Southall gave the V sign to the Shed after being sent-off.
