Heard a story about a falling out at the Wales training camp between Canners and a certain fiery tempered forward of ours. ( they'd arranged to sort out their differences man to man)

The fiery tempered forward was urged to patch things up, owing to the fact that if they did have fight Canners would have murdered him.

The Charlton goalkeeper from the 1937 fog game was Sam Bartram. He played over 500 games for Charlton in a career, like so many players of the time, interrupted by the Second World War. He stated in his autobiography that he hadn't seen any action for a considerable time and thought that Charlton were well om top at the Chelsea goalmouth. It was a policeman who appeared out of the fog and told him that the game had finished 15 minutes ago ! It abandoned in the 61st minute with the score 1-1.

This is extraordinary. My understanding of The Valley is that they used to get massive crowds there. Didn't they go home? Didn't he notice the crowd had gone?

Something very strange about the whole episode. ???????????

A certain few things always stand out and remind me of my teenage years when I hear them and see them, certain songs, certain clothes, particular friends or news stories of the time, but very much up there bringing back memories are those two kits and that team (Ersk)

Can't disagree with anything you've said there.

Looking back the club didn’t have all the training kit and the stupid names that go with them. Stadium jacket, anthem jacket, match day tracksuit, there are some others that used to be listed in the catalogues!! They just used to wear the kits that were outdated!!

Thought exactly the same and to be honest those plain le coq sportif tee shirts there wearing look loads better than the flurosent bollocks they wear now a days.

Brilliant, I knew one of you boys would put that clip on. Comedy gold!2

One of my favourite lines from that clip is when Trigger says: "Aint this coach fitted with a fire distinguisher?" Superb.

When we played Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup semi-final at Old Trafford in 2007 I was with a couple of mates in the Stretford End. Just before kick-off I saw David Lee. Was still the spitting image of Rodney Trotter.

As for Rodney kicking the ball back and saying "Ruud Gullit" and hits copper on side of head!!

No jobsworth stewards in those days, lol.

Indeed. Lots of service personnel in the ground. Climbing on to roofs would have been part of training for some of them especially if they were in the Commandos.

There is a great picture of the main stand at Ibrox from when Rangers played Moscow Dynamo. Will see if I can find it.
